I'm not excited about it, but I'm not disappointed either. When I get somewhere around 180-190 miles on the trip ODO, I'm looking for petrol.
6 fill ups,, running it to the E bar on the gauge,, and I'm seeing 45-46 mpg every tank full. I need to do a long off highway trip to see what kind of fuel return that type of riding gives.
The Yami has almost 1300 miles now.
I rode 175 miles this weekend, had two bars showing on the fuel gauge, thought it was a good time to fill up...the bike only took 3.5 gallons to top off! That's 50 mpg... with what another 2+ gallons in the tank, I'm VERY happy w my fuel use. 200 miles has never been a problem to date.
I got 220 miles out of my last tankful to completely empty. The reason I know this is because I went out for my first ride of the year last weekend because the weather improved and I had obviously left the tank nearly empty when I last rode her and tucked her up in the garage last year. I set off quite happily and suddenly realised that the fuel gauge was flashing, so I looked at the F: trip meter and it was reading 40 miles - oh s**t! Shortly afterwards I rolled to a stop. My wife brought me 5L (1.28 USG) in a can and I then rode around 10 miles before putting 17.47L (4.48 USG) in.
I reckon that's around 46.5 mpg (Imperial) or 40 mpg (US).
A couple weeks ago I set out on a trip from Indiana to the Natchez Trace and south on it to the end.
Interstate speeds to Nashville then 50 mph all the way down the Trace. One day the head winds were really bad and my fuel consumtion went way up. After I made it to New Orleans it was interstate all the way back home 70MPH.
Total miles was 1834 and the bike was loaded with bags full and a Wolfman Dry bag on the back . I was riding alone so not two up.
Best MPG was over 50 and the average using my GPS was 46 MPG.
I'll take that any day

I got 52 miles on reserve out of Mr. T yesterday on way back to the Lakes from IBA National Meeting ::008:: So 265 miles out of one tank of Gas................... ::018::
I seem to get 3-4 MPG more in Touring mode than Sport. Average 180 miles 'till the light starts blinking, then another 10-15 to the fuel station usually, then 4.6-4.7 gallons pretty consistently. So ~40-41 MPG.
Is the fuel pump in the bottom of the tank like the Weestrom? I wonder if Yamaha is counting on the last gallon or so keeping the pump cool?
I need to buy the service manual, just been too busy enjoying the bike so far.
Just came back from 1800km. Worst was 5L/100Km (corrected dirt and twisties) best was 4.4L/100 (slab at legal speeds (110Km/h - 70mph). (all corrected)
Assuming 22.5L available fuel, that makes 441Km (275miles) and 511Km (319 miles) per tank until dry.
I was in Touring mode while touring / dirt and Sport mode in the twisties and on the way back just to check the difference. (not any worth mentioning on the slab)
By the way, the fuel was all 95RON. (91AKI) will a few dregs of 91RON E10 - 87AKI) left in the tank at the start.
Just back from 4200km trip to the South Island with OEM panniers, and didnt hang around averaged 18km/ l which gives just over 400km or 250 miles per tank. It never went below 17 km/ l and that was working it out myself. The instrument panel was about 10% optimistic on fuel consumption.
I rode to work yesterday in SPort Mode with the new ECU and then fueled up. I filled 4.99 gal for 207.9 indicated miles for 41.6MPG. It would be higher if I had been using Sport Mode the full tank.
I got 220 out of my last tank. Premium at Cheveron. All 3 Zego Pros (half loaded as a pre-run for my upcoming trip), some gravel, mostly 2 lane with streches above 70, 60 miles of super-slab doing 75-ish. Got home on vapors... 31 miles into the warning. Just in time to take the Mrs out to dinner. O
