So I wonder if this is the total number of ST's pre-ordered in the US....970 non-california modela and 100 california models...1070 in total?Checkswrecks said:From the service bulletin at the link above:

Our dealer recently got 4 more that were not in the pre order program and they all fall into that VIN sequence.stevepsd said:So I wonder if this is the total number of ST's pre-ordered in the US....970 non-california modela and 100 california models...1070 in total?
I'd bet all US bikes built to date are subject to the recall and were all built in one batch more-or-less last summer, both those that were part of the formal PDP and the extras that were built and warehoused that Yamaha allowed to be ordered beginning in the fall.fredz43 said:Our dealer recently got 4 more that were not in the pre order program and they all fall into that VIN sequence.

Is that ALL versions of the GS?Checkswrecks said:BMW sold something like 1800 12GS's last year & if that's true then your thought sounds reasonable.
If you're talking worldwide, this is way off and sounds low even for US sales. BMW generally sells about 35K GS's and GSA's per year worldwide.Checkswrecks said:These are not high volume bikes, despite what we may think. Funny you would say that...doctorj said:Had the recall done today, and they said the original looked OK. Better safe than sorry I guess (if they put it all back together OK :-\ )

That's when you hope to receive one of those "customer satisfaction” surveys!!slipangle said:Disappointingly, no comps from the sevice desk. Not how I would do it if I were in charge, but maybe that's why I'm not.
At my dealer, I've learned what to do myself and what to bring-in. There are some very competent mech's working there, but for the easy peasy stuff like accessories they assign what amounts to the shop bone-head. Still, he's not too bad. I was a bit mad when the LH bar weight fell off within 100KM of when 'bone head" installed the heated grips though. He did OK otherwise, but I've been spoiled by my old dealer.slipangle said:Funny you would say that...
I also brought mine in for the recall today, and it was reassembled incorrectly. After making it 35 miles out of town, and finally presented with an opportunity to enjoy some unbridled acceleration, the motor went flat when the throttle was opened fully. 70 miles and two hours later, the pinched fuel line unfouled, I was able to enjoy my bike as intended. This was annoying to me because I'm handy with a wrench, and could have fixed the issue myself without drama.

Well, how shall I put it : I've had a BAD EXPERIENCE once or twice . But the guys at Ron Ayers in Greenville, NC have so far done me well with two recall services (FJR and XTZ).SisuTen said:If?
