I just added pics and further description on my first post on page one.
It does work to get to the adjustment mode.

Great job! You didn't perhaps try to get it into "DIAG" mode without earthing the sensor wire?

Yes Bundu, I tried that weeks ago and discovered that the US bikes had the feature disabled.
Not anymore.

I tried a number of CO settings today. My default setting was zero on both cylinders for my California model. I don't know if the 49 state bike is also set to default zero.

Keep in mind, I have already reset my airscrews out three quarter turn each and resynced.
I am also running PCV with Euro map and have seen great improvements with all of these.

The off-idle stumble was gone with the airscrew adjustment.

I tried settings of plus 6, 8, 10, 12, and 14.
For me it seems smoothest at 6 for each cylinder.
Seems to run smoother with slightly less vibration and an added benefit of almost no decel rumble on loaded downshifts.

Give it a try.

Jaxon, I posted photos of it on the first post in this thread. It is under the pillion seat and plastic tray.
I left a wire attached and put a quick-disconnect to make changes on the fly without having to remove the seat again.
I put an alligator clip on the wire that is removed at the disconnect.

Somebody said it was under the passenger seat deck. Break out the torx set again. I'll try +6 on Tuesday.

that's great!
Sounds silly, but did you perhaps sniff the exhaust at '0' and at '6' to see if there was a stronger fuel smell?

I have not tried the sniffing of the tailpipe. Maybe I will have to try this. I will get the old snauze calibrated first... ;)

One thing to be cautious of and to remember is that we have a catalytic convertor (CC) on these bikes. Increasing CO will increase exhaust CC temps as well. "Sniffing" will prolly not show anything until the CC is removed from the system. Remember the old "test pipes" from the 70's? ::025::

A question - If the on board computer is determining all these parameters how is the plug in aftermarket computer overriding them?

I checked the service manual,us version says to unplug the fuel pump to get to the diag. mode.I couldnt find any info on the CO adjustment in this manual. It may be in there but the techs were busy so I didnt bother them. They haven`t worked on a Tenere yet so they would have to call Yamaha Tech line to get more info.

The non-US manual refers to it as "ADJUSTING THE EXHAUST GAS VOLUME"

I bumped mine up to +6 on both cylinders tonight and will see how it feels tomorrow. I think I had done about the same amount on the FJR years ago. Instead of splicing a wire onto the light green wire I just removed it from the connector. A jewelry type screwdriver inserted along the wire connector and the plastic will push the plastic tab out of the way and the wire will slide out. I then just lightly clamped the connector to the frame of the bike. When finished I just pushed it back into the connector. Looking at the light green wire it doesn't do anything when it's plugged in. It's the single pin on the left. Notice the tip over sensor has no pin there.

I wonder if the models outside of the US have a pin in the tip over sensor that is connected to ground and they leave that off of ours? Probably lots of different ways to remove the option on the US bikes though.
I also discovered if you push on the trip button with the key off it will display the clock for a few seconds. Not sure if anyone had discovered that yet or not, I don't get here too often.

Since the green wire does not go to anything in the sensor, I wonder if it is okay to disconnect it or splice off of it and permanently ground it to make adjustments in the future not require going back to the wire?

Since the euro model does not have to go through this step, I'm guessing you are right!!

I wouldn't do that, as the service manual refers to a Test harness that plugs into the plug, so the wire could be used for test purposes

Good find Bundu. I spliced a pigtail off of my wire and added a quick-disconnect under the seat. I can easily access this and ground it when I need to make an adjustment. I would think I will not be making anymore adjustments once I get it dialed in.
