Getting ready to re shoe my bike and am leaning towards Heidenau K60's, but have heard some leak air pressure. Pluric just had one installed and needed to put some gunk between the rim and bead to stop the leak. The K60 looks like a great tire, however, they may have some quality issues to work out. Has anyone else experienced a problems? Yeah, yeah, I know, ride more worry less.........Okay, who wants to join me leaving Indiana to ride to Bike Week?

I've installed a thousand of them. No issue with the tire. There might be some type of damage to a customers rim or someone could dammage the "lip" bead mounting the tire with the stiff side walls. This could could invoke a small leak. The tires are great, give them a try. :)

I'm on my 3rd front and 4th rear with no issues. The K60s seem to be purpose made for the Tenere. 8)

I have Woodys install my K60s He mentioned the bead has thin vertical lines pattern on them that cause a slow leak from the mold I wonder if ''smoothing'' them out would help the issue?

I had a pair mounted for 6,000 miles. Installed by the dealer. No leaks. While riding on I-80, had a rear flat. Plugged, aired, but the inside of the casing of the tire was damaged which made it unsafe to ride. Dealer had one in stock. The distributor replaced the tire in two days. Still have the tires in the garage and might be re-installing them next week.

10,000 km on K60's with no problem. I'd say 75% gravel and 25% pavement.....maybe.

Will replace rear with another K60. Front has a few more kalamitymetres left on it......

Over 10k on mine right now and will ride on them another 2k then the rear will be replaced. The front still looks like new. They don't leak a drop of air and do not have a single crack around the lugs. These tires are awesome. I'm an average rider on both the dirt and road and I can't take them to their limits. I don't see me switching any time soon.

My front K60 had a persistant leak throughout the 7,500mi I had them on. Slime slowed it to add once a week rather than ever day. Good tires but they howl, rode rough and felt nervous at higher speeds. YMMV.

"Good tires"? You have absolutely nothing but negatives listed there. LOL

He is right, it is a great tire, except for it is hard, has reduced traction on cold pavement that will find you wondering if you have a 15 year old dunlop 207 fitted, a bias ply construction that has been made less squishy by just making it with more... stuff (heavy), a dramatic weave on grooved pavement, howling, vibrate, etc etc. The problem is this, if you are not going to ride 50/50 or more off road, I wouldn't buy them. This bike is so much fun to ride on the road, and the K60's take away so much of that fantastic character that they do not make up for it in mileage. Now, if you are going to run off road, they may just be the thing you are looking for.

Hence, only "good" tire classification. The positives are durability (for some people, not my rear tire), good offroad traction (in most situations) and rugged good looks (if that trips your tweeters).

If the K60's were radial, perhaps they would ride better. As is, they feel like a brick donut that knifes into turns and makes Blinky go apeshit on wet roads.

If I was never gonna ride off road, I would NEVER mount K60's.
But I would NEVER have bought this bike either.

My only complaint with the K60's is they last entirely too long. I get bored waiting for that fresh rubber feeling.

You have an 18" rear wheel, right? Were you running the 140 or 150 width rear? I was expecting 10,000mi but saw only 7,500 before pulling them for the A3's.

Well, you gotta admit that only 4k outta k60's is way outside the norm. Way outside. So there has to be an explanation.
What's up with that? :)

Got a set. Front seems to leak a bit over a month or so. Don't think its a tire issue so much as an install issue maybe.

Ride is ok.

Dry traction is great.

Wet traction is as expected with less tread on a wet surface. I'm fine with it, but I adjust my style in the wet.

Great off road if its gravel and light mud. Rocks are ok, but any real mud shows their non-knobby weakness.

Wear is very good, IMO.

... and I just ordered a set of TKC 80s for the gal today. In most gravel road situations, they're great. On one ride this summer I found their limit and went down. Would have stayed upright with something more aggressive. Tradeoff is in noise, ride comfort and lifespan... but I Luvs me TKC 80s on my KTM, so i'll give up longevity for traction for summer dirt riding this year... and still have usable K60s on hand, too.

I've got over 55,000 miles on K60s now.
I think everything everyone on here has said the truth about them.
I run them because my great Big Blocks just don't last long enough.
I wish I could say they are great, I can't.
I wish I could say I ride mostly off road with them, I can't.
They can take me thousands of miles to some great off road riding and do a great job, then get me back home thousands of miles and turn around and do it again.
I have a new Midas rear out there so I'll see what that can do. [Looks more aggressive which I like]
I'm still waiting for a company to build my Big Blocks that can last 12,000 miles.
Until then I'm just making do.

Steve, you will see a wet grip improvement over the k60's.
Better off road.
But...you will not get the life out of the mitas. Watch your tire pressure. the guys at mx1canada told me to run 28 psi in the rear ???
so far, no more than 8km out of the rear (two sets to date). I have another 2 rears in the garage, so i'm good for a while.
