I come from the KLR world where noise is always present. Also had a DL1000 and learned a few things about their throttle bodies being loose and not balanced, growl growl growl.
Noticed noises I have never heard before but this is a dry sump engine. Thought I heard valve lash or fuel pump tick. Thought I heard the clutch like it was a dry clutch. Rattles at startup like there are loose parts in and out. Vibrations at different times. Surely these will things are not resolved by one fix though will be resolved as we discover where they come from.
What would be nice to see is someone that takes say a 3,000 mile Super Tenere, adjusts the valves, balances the fuel system, installs a PC V and maybe a new exhaust, and checks the torque on every nut, bolt and screw. Chances are they would have a better running but still noisy Super Tenere that they will enjoy very much.
