A very nice ride report ridden in the same season as the upcoming FODS gathering if any you mudders are entertaining thoughts of riding the famed rated trails...http://forum.dixiedualsport.com/post/hatfield-mccoy-almost-heaven-wv-4841933?&trail=15 It is worth a winter's day read even if these trails aren't your cuppa.

Trails that connect the systems have been added since the above report was posted thus eliminating pavement should you choose. Either the Indian Ridge, Ashland and Pocahontas trail heads are about an hour out of Pipestem via mixed surface mountain back roads.

Jim, am I safe in thinking there will be plenty of trailer parking? I'm really leaning towards trailering down the the DR (and hopefully the wife's XT). I'm wanting to get the DR into some true dirt riding and where better to do it.

Yep, plenty of room for trailer.

Sorry for the delay Jon. I missed this post and discovered it by happenstance. Looking forward to seeing y'all.

How about someone who never owned FJR but now owns a Super Tenere?

Awesome...subscribed to this tread.

The event got started over on the FJR Forum for those who also owned dirty bikes...made for a nice acronym...

For aspiring rated trails riders this is what your $100 will get you. The video represents well the overall 'feel' of dual sporting the H&M as a knowledgeable local trail guide talks up the system. Pinnacle Creek is 1 of 3 trail subsystems easily accessible from Pipestem. I think the other two more southerly subsystems, Pocahontas and Indian Ridge are now linked to Pinnacle Creek.

Long video but it's the most representative of dual sport conditions on the H&M I've found, skip the first 6-7 minutes and scoot along at your own pace thereafter. If it has been wet, that woodland clay is slick as greased owl excrement.

Rated trails and/or dual sporting not your thing? No worries, there are excellent dirt, gravel and paved roads aplenty offering something for everyone. Suggested routes...http://www.yamahasupertenere.com/index.php?topic=12025.0

Hope to see you in June!

Damn you, Jim. Now I want to sell my DR and get a monster KTM again. That looks like fun.

I do love the HM trail network. I've done a lot of Little Coal River and the other one near the HM Trail HQ...also near where they hold the hill climbs and ATV pull event. How you guys missed getting all the rocks down there will always be a mystery. God must have built the northern part of VA last and found he had too many rocks left over and dumped them all up here. Seemed like almost all of that video was Tenere friendly stuff, but more fun to just fly on the DR. I don't get enough of that type of riding. Really miss it.

Finally sat down to book the room today. Looks like everything is sold out between 6/18 and 6/21. Jim, any idea if that a temporary glitch, or if it really is sold out? I know you had some rooms set aside.

Did you try to reserve online? There is no provision online for letting them know you are with FODS. Might be best to call in tomorrow. Be sure to mention you are with the FODS motorcycle group. Please let me know what you find out.

There were 10 rooms in the lodge down in the Bluestone Gorge and 20 campsites reserved. I have not been in contact with the park since I signed the contract. I guess I had better get a campsite reserved soon...maybe.

I still have not conceived a good way to get a handle on number of attendees so I conservatively winged the number of reservations. I might have to start looking into overflow accommodations. No worries, we will make this work.

I just called and booked a room. She said they still had rooms under the "FODS 2015" group name.

Do not have a handle on it yet. At the request of others, the event was posted with a very long lead time so folks who have to commit vacation time in Jan could plan. It is getting close to time to do a " please post up if you plan to attend" request. I have been waiting on the east riding season to hit a stride before making that post. Keep watching. It will be soon.

I reserved 20 campsites and 10 lodge rooms fwiw.

I'm sure the riding groups will be small.

extrememarine with an assist from clocklaw has taken on the yeoman’s task of organizing a FODS T-shirt:

A downloadable order form in Word format can be accessed here:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/sht2rypufu92kza/FODS%202015%20Shirt%20Order%20Form.docx?dl=0

To purchase, please follow all directions on the form and e-mail to extrememarine as indicated.

T-shirts will be shipped to WV and arrive in time for the meet. If you wish to order a shirt but cannot attend, PM your shipping address to spklbuk and I will figure out a way to get it to you.

Many thanks to you extrememarine and clocklaw.

Yes there is a apt story behind the twist on the new FODS 2015 acronymn.

This info has been added to Post # 1.
