Hi Paul,

I am looking forward to popping over and having a chat with them. I need to understand a lot more about the ECU Unleashed process, the impact on fuel economy, losing the closed loop and wether that is good or bad etc. I am a bit of a "details guy" alas. ::26::

Regards,

Matt

If it makes the engine even better then fine, but I would not let something like that be a deal breaker. I am already enjoying the bike as it currently is.

Anyway, I will gladly report back on things but do not want to steal Paul's thunder as he highlighted Race Engineering to start with. ::008::

Matt

Race eng have the kit now. They want to have a play around with it before starting to sell the flashes. They'll contact those that have mailed them when they're ready to go.

Excellent news. Just need to compare this flash with the OffTheRoad one and make a decision. If they want a bike to play with I am happy to take mine over. Would be great for them to do before and after dyno runs etc.

Matt

Just had John from ECUunleashed UK on the phone. Should be ready to install within the week. Price quoted £340.

Same as Taffcd, received the call saying they were working through a few things and will be ready soon. They'll call again when they're ready to take orders, all they ask is that we give them 48hrs notice so they have time to order the flash file if you're hoping to do a ride in, ride out flash

They've had the software up and running for a couple of weeks and have tested it on a few bikes, the last being a racing r1. So far happy with the results, but he mentioned they wanted to test a few things such as any effect that our slightly higher grade fuel made to the map. I wonder if the U.K maps will reflect this, will ask when I get there.

They've changed their web site to take on the ecunleashed.CO.UK site.

I will await developments with interest. As mentioned before I am only about 25 minutes down the road from them so may take the plunge at some point. The price is not much different to OffTheRoad flash, though, so I could jump either way. ::26::

Thanks for the updates boys. This could be just what i want. I've had the opportunity to ride some varied kit over the last few weeks. The Honda Crosstourer is fast - but heavy. The KTM SMT is wonderfully nimble - but the engine didn't feel that far away from my S10, with the Akra can. All i really want is a bit more response at the bottom and mid range and i think the Yamaha will be perfect.

From what I've seen and heard so far I don't think the gains are worth the outlay. £340 is a lot of money for a few minutes work!

Having had my re-flash done at Off-The-Road, I think it is well worth it. In fact, I'd have paid more. No more stumbling and clutch dragging away from idle, more stomp in the first 3 gears, and a generally vastly improved throttle response.

I understand they have to develop these maps and probably put a lot of time into getting a new map sorted, so would expect to pay a "fair" amount for the reflash, but £340 does seem a lot. I am sure Yamaha spent millions developing the bike in the first place, but they don't ask £1,000,000 for each bike.

If they had the sense to do these for under £200 a go they would probably sell ten times as many, and my basic maths tells me 10 x 199 is a lot more than 1 x 340, if it was £99 I bet almost every owner would go for it and they would sell 50 times more.

Anyone had the ECU Unleashed flash done on a UK bike yet?
