If you’re staying near Ragley Hall you could book your bike in with Nick Underwood at Road and Race Performance in Meriden, Coventry (just over half an hour away) who will be able to remap your bike, but he may need more notice.

As far as I know you send off the ECU for their flash.
Yes, that is correct but I have contacted them and they will do a ride-in-ride-out service for 20 Euros and it takes 3-4 hours, so I was wondering if anyone on here, U.K. or European based, have any experience with this re-flash. Specifically, I wanted to know what benefits, if any, I can get on my 2017 S10.

Off The Road’s claims relate to the Gen 1 bike, so I can’t comment on them. However, for a Gen 2 the power increase claim is absurd. The throttles on the Gen 2 do open 100% at wot from 4000rpm onwards (in Sport) - below that they don’t because the engine can’t use the additional fuel. Neither is it clear if they do anything other than the “throttle flaps”, presumably the ride by wire maps. There are so many other adjustments possible to fuel and ignition maps, throttle and acceleration enrichment by gear, adaptive learning, engine braking and deceleration fuel cut.

It’s quite expensive for a generic flash and they’ve advertised 25% off for at least the past 8 years! I’d steer clear and get Grant at Wiz to reflash your ecu for far less money if you want a generic map, or for a dyno jobbie, Chris at CJS just south of Bristol (Chris also has some excellent maps dyno developed by himself or other tuners, but they’ll cost you more than Grant charges)

Well I had a reply from Off THe Road this morning. They said they can do exactly what I want, whether it is more performance or better economy, they will smooth out the throttle regardless of anything else and map the ECU just as I want it. In all fairness, I haven’t felt I needed more of anything from my 2017 Gen 2 but every now and again, I think “what it….”?
The other question for me is whether to arrange my route via Cologne and Bavaria or head for Denmark and Sweden as I initially intended!

CJS did my 2017 bike on the Dyno and he always saves the maps. So if your 2017 has a full Arrow system you can post your ecu to him and he will load it with that map to give you as close to Dyno tuned ecu as it possible to get without going on the Dyno.

Another thing to consider is if you aren’t happy with the map, how will you resolve this with an outfit in Cologne? For example, you may go with a “performance” map that disables the O2 sensors and find that losing 6-8 mpg isn’t really worth it and want to revert to one which uses adaptive learning. Tuners sometimes make the rbw throttle map slightly more aggressive to give the impression of more power, but this can make the bike difficult to ride at low speed. Again, a tuner here would be able to dial down the throttle map at lower throttle angles to make it more controllable.

Reviving this old thread. I found a ECU flashing company in Morocco and I want to flash my S10 2012. The issue is that I have no clue on what to ask from technical stand points and I hope you can help me in converting my wishes to technical input:

1- T mode: I want to keep the same torque and engine braking and the reason is simple: in off road it does help me a lot. But what can I do with other aspects of this mode without altering these two requirements? Smoothing out the throttle? Improving fuel economy? Really no idea..

2- S mode: basically unleash hell...whatever he can do to increase power, fuel economy, smooth the throttle etc...

Any specific input based on the above and your experience please ?

Thank you so much!

Just tell the tuner what you said above. I don’t think you can “unleash hell” in sport mode however. You may get a few more horsepower but nothing dramatic. The biggest advantage for me is the smoother on/off/on throttle response in both modes.

Thanks a lot. Did you keep the engine breaking? Or if I smooth the gears it will be reduced?
