If so Which tank bag do you use and how do you like it ? If you were buying a new one what would you get for a Tenere ? What kind of mounting system ? Think I would prefer magnetic but I'd like to hear what others think. There seems to be some pretty big differences in tank bag quality and price. Thanks in advance for any help.

I have 2 Givi bags (one small, one larger) that lock into a ring on the tank. I like these because I don't have to worry about scratching the paint which can happen with the magnetic bags if you get dirt/debris in there. They pop off and go on easy. There are other brands that employ a similar system.

I have a magnetic Siedici bag. It stays on very well and holds everything I need in a tank bag.

Yes I have seen similar tankbags but only on the Internet, how do you attach the ring to the tank ?

I do the same thing. I care less about the paint then I do about the ease of refueling and moving the bag between the S10 and my FJR. I find that I really like the ultra small Givi.

I use a large magnetic bag for touring.
I use it for holding glasses, phone, charger, camera, head lamp, Snacks, maps, charger and just quick grab items.
It expands and it can hold two gallons of milk and two packs of Oreo cookies or a 12 pack of beer!! ;D
Makes a great pillow to lay your upper body on when you want a quick Cat nap too!! ::008::

RKA Strap mount...I got the version with the box for mounting my electronics in it, along with the mounting plate on top. Great spot for my GPS, and very easy to remove for security.

I use a SW-Motech Bags Connection City Tank Bag. I mount it on my tank using a locking ring assembly. They offer an electric locking ring setup which cost even more coin. I opted for the nonelectric setup to reduce issues with the electrical connection which I have heard of some ppl having. The bag is high quality and comes with a raincover. It also has an holder which mounts to the front of the bag which I mount my GPS unit in. The holder is waterproof so I can use a standard GPS. The only issue with this is that I cant hear the GPS which is ok since Im on a motorcycle anyway. The bag holds a fair amount of stuff like my pistol, cellphone, tire gauge, garage door opener, water bottle, glasses, gloves and wipes with still more room etc. I ran a power line from my fuseblock to my handlebars and from that I have a connection that I make to the bag. The bag has a port that you can run a cable into and I have never had any issues with water intrusion despite riding in some gully washer type downpours. They also have a mapholder that you can get that will hold your map for easy viewing. I have handlebar risers and I have not hand any issues with the bag interfering with handlebar movement in any way. I chose this bag for it allows me to remove both my GPS and my tank bag in one easy movement. The bag is sold at twisted throttle and there u will find all the info about fit etc. Inside the bag I utilized a cigarette lighter type of connection with that splits into two connections, one for my gps, the other for charging my cellphone. If you really want to carry a lot of stuff there are other bags that can do that but I didn't want that large of a bag on my tank. Just personal preference. If you do chose to go with the locking ring mounting, be sure that the bag is securely engaged on the ring. I didn't do that one time and took off and the bag would have hit the pavement if it wasn't for my power cable preventing it from doing so. Takes a few tries to get the hang of it but now I never go anywhere without that bag. I considered the Yamaha bag but since I couldn't get on in time for a trip I went with the City bag. The bag doesn't rest on the tank so there is no concern of paint damage. I saw a Yamaha bag later on and it is a good quality bag for much less coin and the magnets are strong and it can hold everything but the kitchen sink. I hope this helps

It just bolts onto the gas cap ring...very simple.

I have an old, small Wolfman magnetic tank bag I got in '95 to use on my last bike (VFR 750). I use it when I don't need the space of the OEM Yamaha panniers and/or top box.
When it was 6 or 7 years old, the magnets seemed to lose some holding power, allowing the bag to lift a bit at freeway speeds on my VFR. Wolfman sent me a new set of magnets at no cost to me, and it's been fine since then. That bag is expandable, has a transparent map pocket on top, and seems to be indestructible. I have certainly gotten my money's worth out of it!

I personally run a Wolfman Explorer Lite. It is a great quality bag, sturdy mounting, never gotten wet inside in heavy rain, and if you expand it out, can hold a gallon of milk. I also carry around a backpack-style strap for it, so I can explore off the bike with my hands free. As for ease of refueling, I find the Wolfman to be pretty good about this. Undo the front two clips and the bag flops back onto the seat, non-issue for me.

I will admit that I'm curious about the electrified bags with the quick release rings. At the moment, I use an Amazon rechargeable USB battery inside the Wolfman to charge my electronics (I'm a wimp about the power port on the Tenere in the rain). I haven't been able to use it on the bike yet, but it will charge my iPhone, Sena, and GoPro from 0% to 100% battery twice over without a recharge. As a result, I'm not sure if I actually need the powered bag.

After owning several tank bags that have a rain cover, I bit the bullet and purchased an Enduristan tank bag. The outer surface is totally waterproof. It makes a huge difference.

I've got a bagster set up, leather tank cover and clip on bag.
The cover protects the tank, but the bag sits kinda close to the seat and get in the way if your moving about on the bike.
I should just buy another bag, but I've had this one years and have developed an unhealthy emotional bond with it!

I use the OEM Tenere Bag. It's magnetic so I use a piece of that matting that gets put in shelves. Couple bucks at wally world for a large roll.

The OEM works for me to keep things at hand. It's not huge but does expand when needed. I also find S10 owners dump them far below cost so I've picked up a couple extra.

Plus I don't have to fret about scratching the tank when I dump things on it (helmet, gloves, jacket, inflatable sheep or any other essential item the well intentioned rider shouldn't leave home without).

I thought for sure there would be more Bags Connection stuff out there. I like the City. They make one bigger and several smaller. I saw a UK Yamaha ad that showed a City bag with a Yamaha logo on it. Almost felt the need to have two tank bags. Well, that's a lie, I've got four or five, one being the Yamaha magnetic. The City is a better (perfect?) size.
