Thought I was the first Aussie with harness problems.
Blew the 20 amp fuse every time the bike was started.
The auto-electrician checked the harness and connections but all were fine and showed no signs of overheating.
It turned out one of the H7 bulbs had blown in such a way that it was blowing the fuse.
A relief but we took the long way to a simple fix.

Garners (Melbourne) S10 for hire had the headlight issue. I had to jiggle the connectors on the right bulb a few times. I admit to riding it in some really bumpy washboard dirt roads though. :)

It seems my ST may have come down with this virus as well. My left headlight flashed on and off several times this morning on my hour long commute to work. I haven't investigated it as yet because it was still quite dark when I arrived at work. I'll delve into it when I get home tonight. This is my first problem with the bike and I'm near the 11,000 mile mark.

I was over Combos house the other week and we discussed the issue. He had to fix his connectors to get them to seat all the way down on the prongs. He ended up filing the plastic down to the metal female connector. Then he was able to push it onto the male prong to make a good connection. When we busted out the files to do mine we noticed that the plastic cover over the female connector sat flush and no modification was needed. Combo stated that his connectors were drastically different than mine.

Do you have pictures of the two different connectors, I would really like to see the difference to compare what I have on mine.

I'ver had 3, and each was cheerfully and apologetically replaced under warranty.

I'm the OP in this thread, so mine was one of the first reported, yet Yamaha replaced mine rather graciously once they had some spares in the country.

I was happy. It was certainly a hell of a lot less hassle than any warranty repair I ever had with BMW! :D

Well the good news, it is going to be covered under the YES warranty. The bad news they are back ordered with none in the country. :(

Same thing happened when mine went bad. I spent a couple hours repairing/modding mine. I don't think mine will fail again.

Now they want the old light bulb, to make sure I didnt have a 100w bulb in it.
That's kinda fair isn't it? I wouldn't take it as an accusation. More research and troubleshooting than anything.

Well.....I tried to give it to the when I took the bike in, so I had to dig the old bulb out of the garbage. I really dont care but it would have been nice to take it when I offered.

Ah, clarification. Yea, that had to be irritating.

My left headlight burned out this weekend, removed the cover and was greeted by the smell of burning plastic. This will be the second time the headlight harness has to be replaced with 18,000 km on the odometer, first time when the original owner still had the bike.

They will ask you if you are using the OEM bulbs.

I am surprised someone is not making an aftermarket harness that will handle a brighter bulb.

The TJ from Romney Cycles added an extra ground wire to the left harness and ran it to the battery. The harness has been fine since, though the bike has been consuming more bulbs than before.
