Ahhh, good old MCN........a wannabe motorcycle publication good only for use as emergency toilet paper. Your average S10 rider could eat a bowl of alphabetti spaghetti and crap out more noteworthy articles than that awful rag!!

Silly magazine testers probably need to change the polarity on the fuse. If it doesn't work, why did my rear tire wear out all of a sudden?

Donlt know where I sit in all this..

A bit RonH, A bit Rasher...A bit Spasm.

Part of me wants to tinker and get the most versatile delivery, Part of me says Meh whatever.

I think the bike world has been selling track bike parameters for so long it has forgotten the that it's just getting a bit too out of control for the majority of people out there.
200HP here 300Km/h there. Ooh this one does 210HP,, ooh this one does 310Km/h. Doesn't seem to matter how it gets there as long as it does.

So yeah I like the fact that there is a way of getting good sold torque in the zone that I use 99.9% of the time for a couple of bucks is great.
As far as the bit I use .1% of the time. well, really, I give 0.1% of a shit about that.

I spent a few years testing the bike gods doing silly things, as you do. Watched a mate on his Ducati end up in hospital with all kinds of broken and punctured bits, not the first time, and decided that life is too short. Find something I can enjoy at sane speeds.

I don't enjoy talking to police officers much. They don't like my sense of humour anyway. Seems 10Km/h over the speed limit is not a laughing matter. :p

So I tried this bike and liked it. I like it better the more I get to know it. I don't care what HP it is making. If something bugs me I'll fix it. Thanks to people on this forum and others Ill most probably find the solution.

The ownership experience is as much about the community to me as the bike. There are lot's of decent people here, even cranky old Spasm and Dallara :D (only kidding)
It's great that so many people can get together and bitch and moan about such major thing like this. Says something I think.

Anyway apparently we should all feel great shame that our bikes are just not sports touring track day stars and we should collectivel;y go out and burn our bikes in protest as it is now too embarrassing to be seen on one at Starbucks / Yuppie Cafe / HD meet / BMW convention. I mean we donlt even have our own Accessory catalog. :-[

All I can say is Woooo Hoooo. I'm off to get my POS bike real dirty soon. ::001::

We all bought the S10 for different reasons. Big deal if some crap mag doesnt like my bike. I like it and that is all that matters. The S10 rocks and I dont need ego stroking to feel good about my ride.

Comments such as...

...are meaningless, I have overtaken countless Superbikes on my Tenere / GS and even my sisters ancient GPZ500S, I have a mate who won a couple of National Championships who used to do track day instruction on a 51BHP CB500 standard apart from an end can and raised footpegs, typically just 1-2 riders in the fast group could keep ahead of him on this lowly commuter bike, I don't think this means the CB500 is superior to a slick shod R1 if you pop an end can on it and raise the pegs.

Your also assuming the other riders are prepared to ride to the limit on public roads with no regard for their own safety or respect of traffic laws, overtaking another bike on the road is a combination of how good your bike is, how good you are, and how far your prepared to push things against the same factors for the other bike / rider combo.

Indeed, no reason for handbags, I see a lot of mods to bikes I would never want, others I would love but cannot stretch too, or do not see the value off.

But saying that your way is the only way and other peoples mods are shite is not very nice (not true either) on the original topic the clutch mod, it is well tested and scientifically proven to make a good difference, maybe not nearly as good as Spasm's well sorted motor, and I do believe Spasm when he tells me it makes a big difference - and I would love the same done to mine.

The fact that spending a lot more money makes it much better does not mean everyone who has only done the clutch mod is some sort of moron, what they have done is made a significant improvement that is noticeable on every single ride - and for less than a £1 / 1$.

My point is a very significant gain is had for such little money and I think most people here want a flash at some point, and a fair few may also wish to add a power commander to get things spot on - and I am sure if money was no object we would all have the lot done.

To me getting the suspension sorted so I can really throw the bike about two up with luggage was far higher up my priority list, along with the comms system, comfier seats, better screen, full luggage etc. I am sure many people have a different set of priorities - and we all have different budgets.

I have found some great information on this forum, I found out about the clutch mod here and it has brought me a lot of (very cheap) pleasure, forums are for sharing information and making recomendations, not slagging off anyone with a different view, budget, or priorities to your own.

I think everyone (who has tried it) knows the Clutch Mod is Good News

I was going to keep quiet, but maybe I will throw a bit more out there.

I have been a "happy CJM-er" for close to 10k miles at this point. However, there will be a NEW option available soon...and affordable!

I have been working with a company, whose name will go unannounced for now, to create a few new ECU options.

I have sent my ECU to them and they have been investigating. First and foremost, they have told me the CJM is not an ideal solution. Yes, it releases most of the electronic throttle limits. BUT, it also plays with engine timing and other parameters in less than desirable ways.

They are developing a flash, which I should have next week, that will remove the factory timing and throttle restrictions...AND COST <$200!

They are also developing an interface, that should be out ~May, that will allow users to reflash their own ECUs. Fuel, Throttle, Ignition and some other parameters will be adjustable. Cost? <$500!

Good news on the Tenere ECU front! Once I have my ECU back and permission to release the developers info I will post a new thread. Until then...enjoy your Tenere. Flash, CJM, PCV, stock...whatever, it's still a hoot to ride!

Got some bad news buddy, some arsehole has stolen your ECU ;)

Great work on the ECU front ::008::

Hey Spasm,

My panniers are bigger than yours ::013:: It's why your bike is faster than mine - less drag you see ::008::
