Yep done to death, proved by every owners seat pants and for those who have to have evidence that woukld stand up in court many of us have posted dyno curves to prove the point.

If you really feel the need for an extra 2BHP when smashing the redline then don't bother, personally I will take the 20% - 40% gains in 2nd / 3rd where I spend a lot of my time when lugging out of corner , off roundabouts or overtaking the old timers that clog my favourite lanes on Sunny Sundays - Luckily I have a switch so can turn it off if I suddenly find a need for an extra 2BHP at 130mph.

Well Rasher, if you can get a Tenere to 130, I would assume you drove it of a cliff ?

I have to admit I really don't understand how to read dyno charts, so they have never had an impact on any of my decision making.

I have read enough motorcycle magazines to know I have little or nothing in common with the people who write for motorcycle magazines. Whatever they say, good or bad, is usually just colorful noise to me.

I do have about 28K miles on a Tenere. I like the way my Tenere runs better with the clutch mod than without it. It's that simple.

I don't know how much hp my Tenere has. Don't know its 1/4 mile specs. In fact, most of the "measurements" that are the basis of bike comparisons, especially in publications, aren't much interest to me with this bike.

This bike has a very specific mission to fill for me. (a much expanded one albeit, compared to my original intent)
HP just isn't in play.

I am sure that I would enjoy the more sophisticated improvements that flashing and fueling bring to refining the Tenere. But as many have said, seems silly to live with the "stumble" when the effortless clutch mod rids it.

I don't care what the magazine guys said. Heck, the magazine guys don't even like my bike.

I picked up some toilet paper in the airport where they declared the new BMW King of the Universe, and the new KTM King of the Galaxy. I'm honestly thinking of rolling my S10 in the driveway and setting it on fire. I want a MV Agusta anyways.

Well......no real surprises here, in resect of your responses to the claims made in BIKE magazine's little article. It's refreshing to note that most here share the same healthily cynical attitude towards the motorcycling press and their often spurious claims.

I believe that most of these publications have a vested interest in keeping motorcycle and other product manufacturers happy. Consequently, they do tend to get all loved up about the latest monstrously BHP laden two wheeled offering and sing it's praises ad nauseum. After all, if one magazine quite rightly slags off your brand new computer bedecked, whizz bang 1600cc six cylinder sports touring behemoth as a lardy and overcomplicated irrelevance, you ain't going to pay them good money to advertise it for you.

As for BERK magazine, they started off in the late 60's, early 70's as a bit of a "right on" and radical bikers publication......into chops and anti old school motorcycling establishment. Then slowly, they moved into an ongoing preoccupation with going fast, getting one's knee down and draping one's two wheeled work of art with carbon fibre, in order to lose a gnats dick worth of weight. Personally this sort of guff is an irrelevance, as I've never really got the point of sports bikes. I value my life too much to try to ride like Rossi on public roads and tend to enjoy the journey as much as reaching my destination.

I haven't thought of spending my own money on BIKE magazine for many years but still manage to get an occasional laugh from it when flicking through it at the local supermarket. ::001::

I'll add this, I have ridden a bike with the clutch mod, all it does is feed more fuel, tricks the bike, and makes it a bit smoother on the throttle, to me it does not add power, wake up will u lol

the clutch mode definitely works, at least on the South African bikes - before the clutch mod, I got 10 000km on my rear Anakee - I'm at 7 000km on the new one with clutch switch and I need to replace again

You ought to look at the Dyno graphs, mine gained about 25% at 40mph in third, or about 10BHP if you want it in BHP, that is Ten REAL BHP's where I use them a lot.

OK little or no top end gains, but this mod is fine for many who do not want more peak power, I am not too bothered about the top end power because 99% of the time I am not at high revs in the higher gears, if I wanted loads of power I would have kept my ZZR1400 - you can fit whatever the f*** you wish to a Tenere and any sports 600 will still piss all over it.

What I don't want is stumbles and hesitations when I roll on at 40mph in 3rd, or short shift into second afterpulling away. I don't want the bike to hesitate, then slowly gather momentum - I want it to pull cleanly and progressively, with the bike obeying my right hand rather than forcing me to wait a few seconds before allowing me to have the throttle I asked for - the clutch mod does this for next to bugger all.

You don't get these sort of torque gains from a bit more fuel, the mod is definately taking out some restrictions, I am sure a flash and power commander takes things to another level, but slagging of a £1 mod because the £1,500 you spent on Flashes, Power Commanders and exhausts beats it is pointless - sure your Tenere is faster than mine, but unless you have gained somewhere in the region of 15,000 BHP at 40mph in third the clutch mod provides better value for money :)

Ah Bike magazine..... just a glossy version of MCN..... better quality pics but the same shyte. The only thing worth reading in it is the Ogri cartoon strip.

I've never been under any illusions that the clutch switch mod gave you more top end BHP...... but it definitely gives you more stomp in gears 1 to 3, added to the fact it removes that annoying stumble and its well worth doing. Especially as its FREE !, which is much more of a bargain than spending a small fortune on a remap, power commander, dyno time, K&N filters and god knows what else...... just to get a shade over 100 BHP.
If I was interested in BHP then I would have bought a ZZR 1400, not a dual sport bike....... But Bike magazine, like MCN, will never get it.
