I wonder if I could make some different grab rails? Hmmmm.
There are some racks for side cases that look like a good design to look at. Only the top case rail would be needed, or something along that line.elizilla said:I wonder if I could make some different grab rails? Hmmmm.
Less of a moment arm if the case is forward (even if it is a bit higher) compared to it hanging off the back of the bike.elizilla said:Is it better to go higher and farther forward, or leave it back and down, or give up the grab rails and/or passenger seat?

Katherine - I had the same issue with topbox/altrider rack - too far back. Not necessarily the fault of the rack - I think stock is too far back too for a topbox with any kind of weight in it.elizilla said:I mounted my Altrider rack in the low position the first time. Then I needed the passenger seat and grab rails so I put it up. Either way the case is still too far back. But if it were moved permanently forward and low, then the grab rails and passenger seat have to come off and stay off. I'm still trying to decide what I want to do about this - I rarely carry a passenger, but never say never.
Looking good Jim!japako said:Well here it is.. Both racks are done except for adding the flat head bolts and power coat. I save a bunch of money by doing this myself instead of purchasing comparable racks.
