Altrider Crash bar issue

First off I want to say the bars are put together very well and the welds are top notch. The problem I have is they are not even on the bike, they are not bent symmetrical or should I say evenly so they look uniform on the bike. I have called Altrider about it and talked to the engineer to see if this is the way they were suppose to look like or what. When I was explaining it to the Engineer he just kept saying they are symmetrical to the center line of the bike and that is it. He no clue what I was telling him. All he said they were made off the center line. I said to him that is fine but the fairings are different dimensions and he agreed on that, and said they will be sitting differently so we could get the side panel off. That is fine too. But, to me have been in manufacturing if the sides are different you need to compensate for that. He told me to send him pictures of what I was talking about and he would call me. Well it has been 3 days no calls so I've called Jeremy the owner and he has always been in meetings the receptionist said he would call me. I have not gotten any calls back, Some standing behind thier product and customer service.

The problem is that the right side top bar is not out far enough. the first bent bar that connects to the lower bar is too short. As you can see from the pictures the left side bar is is 3-1/2-3-2/4" away from the fairing and the right side is only 2" away from the fairing.

Is anyone else have lopsided bars?

Sorry for the fuzzy pics on the tape

Left Side

Right Side

Pictures looking strainght at it, you can see how uneven they look.

I'm gonna go out on a limb a little here but .... "Troll" of this forum had some serious issues with his Altrider crash bars. He is out of town for another 10 days or so .... ergo my response. I don't recall all the details but he had to make some major adjustments. He has a background in welding and metal work so he was able to do so himself. I believe there was some bending involved, maybe more, but he would need to confirm. He spoke with Altrider to inform them and according to him, they did not seem particularly concerned about it.

You will need to contact him about it. I think he will be back the end of next week. Good luck. R

Mine are the same way, its like the front top corner on the left side is bent outwards, why would you need extra clearance on the left?

Can you take a pic looking at the front of your bike showing both bars?
Here is one of mine from the rear, can't find one from the front. Does yours look like this?

I had some problems with fit and had to use washers to space out the side flat plate. This winter I will fix it.

Dang, I'm anal and had a bad time on the install, because the plates did not line up on the right side. But I did not notice this.
Hmmmm, must have been spending all my time and cussin on my SW-Motech racks for my Micatech side cases. :D

I could not agree more! I must admit, at times I wish I would have waited and bought the frarkels after the bike got here.
I think I would have put soft bags on for the winter with the Givi e460 and waited until more USA vendor's were set up..
Ah well, hind sight is 20/20.

Tell you what. You boys and girls that run "Altrider" would be wise to be better in tune to your customers. These fine gentlemen on this site have convinced me, I won't be buying any of your products. You, Jeremy, got on here thanking everyone for their support and pushing your stickers for advertisement but, you're to busy "in meetings" to call a customer back? (every one in business is in a meeting anymore. Standard old responses.). You seem like a take-the-money-and run sort of a man.

The left side is correct. You need the bar out that far so you can get the side cover off. But since they did that on the left side they should have followed the same look on the right side.

Maybert you are right the ones on the website are symmetrical ours are different from the site so something is wrong here. They are not what was advertised to us.

Martin, I haven't tried this yet, but are able to remove the right side cover with the bars on?

Interesting... noticed the same thing on mine. Front left (radiator side) is definitely bent farther out. In both the uninstalled and installed pics on their site the bars appear symmetrical. Note the picture in the second column, second row.. looks pretty even to me.

I think I'm going to give them a call in the AM
If you look real close, the ones they picture do the same thing. Some of the pics of the bars alone are taken at an angle head on to the bars but if you look at the lower mounting tabs, those are pointed off to the left so if they were head on, you'd see the difference more.

It's such a small difference off the bike that it's tough to catch and on the bike everything other than that one bar/bend lines up fine.

I have to believe they did that for a reason. Let's give them a chance to reply to all the inquiries and address the 'why' or hopefully fix the issue if it is in fact an error.
