Re: High airflow airfilter , k&n , BMC or DNA ?

Just ordered a OEM air filter from partzilla $31.68 delivered , not cheap but I guess it could be a lot worse.

Here in Aus Yamaha fit Unifilters as standard and won't warranty the bike with the paper filters fitted. Unifilter has a yamaha part number.

That may have been the case for 2010-2012 bikes... my 2015 ES does NOT have Uni Filters installed by Yamaha Australia, I have the standard element

Might be worth an ask, I had a right to do with the Newcastle dealer when the accused me of fitting them, they said they wouldn't fit them, until Yamaha put them straight.

Couldn't leave well enough alone....I went through with it! Just a short 40 mile ride. I have Uni filters coming in the mail any day. But so far bike felt smoother....but it could be in my head. No different sound. I used 6 (1 Package) of those Uni air flow vents. That DEI gold reflective tape is great to work with! It took all of the 2" x 40' roll. I could've used another foot!

The gold works... Be careful with the two vents you have installed in the center section of the top cover... When you ride in rain, the rain water will go down that center section and drip or be sucked right on top of the filters. Just keep an eye on that... Check the clear bulb on the left side for water, often... The ones on the far right and left are fine.

Thank You!
I thought Pretty carefully about where I added those vents but kind of messed up with it to that are by where the air enters the air box because they are partially blocked by a crossbar. The ones that are at the top are actually at the back of the airbox and if I go through some rain I guess I can put a towel or something at the front of the airbox between the tank and the air box but I doubt I'll be going under water like you do. about knee high as my limit Maybe waist-high
