Darker colors go over a darker base easier, and it would be dark on the inside as well.
I have to confess....I've been painting for many years and just make assumptions. I'd never spray a color coat over gel coat. I'd spray a primer than a seal coat first. I can tint whatever I need... I'll go back to my paint booth....

Thanks guys. Looks great Wenwa, I forgot about plastidip. I've never used it but have heard good things about it. I was thinking spray bedliner would be durable and hard to mess up also if anybody wanted to try that. As far as the gelcoat, white is all I have right now and didn't see any reason to get other colors because like others said it's probably best to coat/cover it with something anyway. And VPS1, GEN2S10, and Phplemel yours should be shipping out tomorrow.
That is awesome! Thanks!!!

Anyone have these mounted up on a White Tenere? I'd love to see what they look like on the white bike. Hoping you keep building these. Would love to buy a set in a couple weeks.

Perfect. We have the same bike. Are you keeping yours white or black? Painting or wrapping with vinyl?

My guards are shipping next batch out of the molds. White '13 here also. My first finish will be white Plastidip. If I don't like it then super easy to peel it off and then have them wrapped. Anxiously waiting to see photos of that CF white wrap. Eventually I plan to spray match with factory paint along with my frame infill panel.

Here is where I got my carbon wrap and this is more than enough to do a set. I have't looked through their store but they sent me samples of all different colors of carbon wrap with mine so I assume they sell them all. http://www.ebay.com/itm/390579027726?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

I will be shipping out a big batch of fork guards Tuesday (holiday Monday). This will include Ploughjockey, JustBob, and RideRedWA for sure and most likely Phplemel and SilverBullet ::012:: and then HHH and BushyAR15 will be right behind that. I'm doing my best to get these out ASAP but it takes me 2 weekday evenings or one weekend day to make a set with a full time job :( , one set of molds, and cure times and if they don't come out of the mold to my liking I take the time to make them right and I assume that is what the majority would prefer. Thank you guys for your patience and kind reviews. ::015::

I'm not a vinyl expert by any means but I do work with automotive paints and products. I can tell you from my experiences who the manufacturer is does make a difference. For vinyl I'll only use 3M products. Additionally, I use their 94 Primer and with these guards I'll use their Edge Sealer 3950. All can be found on Amazon...or your local automotive paint supplier.

Primer can be painted on with a brush and if down the road you end up pulling the vinyl and wanting to paint the primer will wipe right off with alcohol. An alternative for edge sealer can be your wifes clear nail polish.

Finished spraying 5 coats of Plasti Dip on. Will install later this week.
Think I'm going to do the plasti-kote thing quick and see how it looks, and go from there.

Was wondering if someone who did the wrap could recommend a good Youtube video on how to do a vinyl wrap?

And for those that did do a wrap, did you also wrap the "inside" of the guard? Did you paint the guard first, say black if you were doing the Carbon Fiber?

TIA
