I did my own testing, this was the result after 3 months in the garden over winter with me regularly re-applying salt!
The upper bracket (1) was just bare metal, te lower section (2) had a tiny smear of WD40 puton it, the untreated metal actually rusted completely in a few days,
The lower one was half ACF-50 (4) and the other half WD40 (3) this was applied really thick with both oils and then never re-applied, it took a while before the WD40 allowed any signs of rust and if applied more regularly than ACF50 does a pretty good job.
I am also a fan of the application by compressed air gun, it really does protect the bike throughout (including electrical connectors) and give a like-new shine to every part of the machine
