I did my own testing, this was the result after 3 months in the garden over winter with me regularly re-applying salt!

The upper bracket (1) was just bare metal, te lower section (2) had a tiny smear of WD40 puton it, the untreated metal actually rusted completely in a few days,

The lower one was half ACF-50 (4) and the other half WD40 (3) this was applied really thick with both oils and then never re-applied, it took a while before the WD40 allowed any signs of rust and if applied more regularly than ACF50 does a pretty good job.

I am also a fan of the application by compressed air gun, it really does protect the bike throughout (including electrical connectors) and give a like-new shine to every part of the machine

nice one rasher ::008::

Just ordered 4 cans from Aircraft Spruce along with a tube of the Corrosion Block Grease. Too many good testimonials here to not try it for a while. Especially considering my proximity to SALT (Salt Lake City).

Actually, vague and arcane home laboratory experimentation and non-scientific testing supports evidence that unsalted cow salve (butter) is the one of most cost effective corrosion inhibitors known to man. Misted on surfaces at a specific gravity of 1.019 with a core temperature of 91 deg. C with the associated metal surfaces in or about that temperature range, atomized butter effectively coats homogenous metallic surfaces and forms a cross linked bovinal barrier which is repulsive to the elements.
The stuff is also good on toast. ::025:: ::025:: ::025::

Man this stuff works great. Did the S10 a few days ago and the bike looks like new again. Thanks spasm and every one for your input. ::026::

Always use ACF-50 on my bikes since I read about it in Bike Mag. The Super 10 was the first brand new bike I have ever owned and sprayed it with ACF50 before it left the dealer from new. Funnily when I got the can out of my bag after handing over my money, I think he was a little concerned I was going to spray the bike in the showroom, but I did do it outside....

Snakebasket, can you tell me what parts of the bike you sprayed? Also anyone out there have an opinion how ACF-50 compares verses S-100 Corrosion spray

I am at the Indy Deaer Expo this weekend and was surprised to see two reps from ACF 50 there. I told them that it was popular with some of our forum members. They asked me where I bought mine and I told them that I would have to check my records, but it was an aircraft supply dealer. They said that they are trying to change that and they have made a proposal to Parts Unlimited to stock ACF 50 to supply their vast motorcycle dealer network. In the meantime they asked me to request that those interested in trying to help to contact their dealers and/or Parts Unlimited to say that we would like to have ACF 50 avaiable thru our motorcycle shops..

Very neat show this year and I will have a report with pics when I get back home.

Funny guy!

The Navy has done or contracted a number of tests due to their ahem "mild" interest in preventing corrosion, especially with aircraft made of aluminum that are kept near salt water environments. Here's an example: http://www.centurycorrosion.com/products/mil-10.pdf

One of the big findings for us is that these molecular level inhibitors are really good at preventing or slowing galvanic corrosion between aluminum and steel. Not as good as an epoxy paint or other means, but sure what we need for motorcycles bought off the shelf.

As for how, the following is an ad but it is informative: http://www.magnalabs.com/cxproducts/gacorrosion.php

I concentrated on the wheels ansd spokes, anything shiny (other than brakes), suspension/shock and all the areas I figured would be hard to clean normally. It's great stuff, and I will reapply after cleaning. My dealer recommends applying with a brush, aswell as spraying as it does have a tendency to creap.
