Wow, this makes me so sad.

I'm in Ontario, Canada and I wouldn't be able to dream of these prices.

I'm 29, married, homeowner, clean record blah blah blah and need to pay 4500 per year for an S10. Anything sporty gets me damn near 10k.

Most of you guys pay per year what I need to pay per month.

It would be a whole lot easier to convince the wife that 2 wheelers are a good idea and I didn't have to grab ankles so hard for insurance...

In my neck of the woods Progressive was excessively high, and has been for years. A friend turned me onto GEICO for my bikes a few years ago, and they have been consistently the cheapest for me down here. I take a look around at the end of each year since I pay insurance on my bikes annually, and no one has ever beat GEICO enough to make me switch.

I even carry my car with 'em now, though I still carry my two trucks with Allstate. Allstate does my house, and they give me a big break for up to two cars/trucks. They're high as a kite on bikes down here, though.

Oh, and I'm an old guy who has no wrecks or claims in decades, and no *convictions* showing on traffic citations (I fight 'em all! ::025:: )

Allstate is who I use, $247 a year. Progressive and the others were way out in left field when I was shopping for a quote.

I have heard some good things about Dairyland, as far as rates are concerned.

I currently pay $1300/yr or so through Progressive, and I was led to believe that's high. I quoted through Dairyland for $50,000/$100,000 coverage, including uninsured motorist. Same coverage as I have through Progressive. My record is spotless.

See attached. I feel pretty good about my Progressive rate now. :))

I don't have access to my bill right now, but the Tenere is only a couple hundred dollars full coverage. There are discounts on it for multi-vehicle, clean record, old guy, etc.

But the biggest was getting Allstate to bundle the house and vehicles.

Don't know about other places... But I use GEICO here in South Texas for my Super Tenere, and carry just two of my many bikes with them, along with one car. I carry full coverage on all my bikes, and for the Super Tenere with GEICO my premium for the year is $448, and that includes Uninsured Motorist Coverage, and I have $500 deductibles on comp and collision.

Funny, my Harley XR1200 is the other bike on that policy, and carries the same coverage as the Super Tenere, and they are both 1200's, yet the annual premium for the XR1200 is only $196. Sure, the Yamaha is a 2012 and the Harley is a 2009, but that's still a pretty sizable difference.

Oh, well... doesn't matter. GEICO was far and away the best deal on these two bikes down here, so that's what I got. ::025::

....Note below they actually call it 'DUAL PURP.' Also interesting, it's the most expensive of any I've insured with them. My K1600GTL, insured at the same time, was only $240? My understanding is that it's all about claim history, not type/style/size, but that's just what my agent says.....

Another Progressive policy holder here....

I went from paying $180/year for a VTX 1800 to $439/year on the ST. It really baffled me because the VTX is supposed to be a sport cruiser. I figured the insurance would be around the same.

that it's a "dual purpose" bike (and 1200cc at that) designed to go off-road, where mishaps are much more common, is probably a factor. i wouldn't be surprised, anyway. it'd be interesting to know if the rates are similar for other "adventure" class bikes. (i bet the problem is that bmw gsa owners have been filing lots of claims. ;))

I'm with the green lizard myself. Going from an '07 1050 Triumph Tiger to a new '13 S10 cost me $48 more/year. I thought a great deal!
