I am going to need this service pretty soon. I thought I may put a few break in miles on the bike first, but from everything I have read, it is going to be a must -do! where is the contact/shipping info?

Sounds like these flashes are aimed primarily at the pre-2014 bikes? I have a 2015 ES that I run in S mode 90% of the time using T only for lane splitting and slow in-town traffic. In both modes (less so in T) I find the on/off/on throttle transitions pretty jerky. I think it's in part due to some pretty heavy off-throttle engine braking, at least compared to my ST1300. Is there a re-flash that smooths out throttle action whilst maintaining horsepower and responsiveness?

I find the sport mode to be very jerky with strong engine braking as well...I find riding in the twisties better in T mode as it gives a much smoother response and less chance of blipping the throttle accidentally when changing body positions. I believe I did hear that a flash could sort this out. A power commander may also do the same.

Yes it does, almost completely eliminates the engine breaking..
But let that be known when your asked what your looking for and what style riding you do.
I use T mode for tight rocky hilly stuff.
Street and Highway S mode.

Thanks, does your not apply to the 2015 models?

For some reason the forum seems to have stopped notifying me when I get a PM. I've opened up my permissions to let members email me through the forum. If anyone has been having trouble getting in touch with me via PM, try the email option.

Hey Tony, if you're using Gmail, they are shunting all mail from here (including notifications!) to Spam. I set up a rule via the web page, and they are now coming through.

2012 model is mine if that's what your asking..
Sorry my question wasn't clear. I'm trying to determine if the re-flash provides any of the same benefits for the 2015 model?

Don't know?
I would think it would clean out the factory set restrictions as it did mine..

Thanks, my understanding (could be wrong) is that Yamaha removed, or reduced, the restrictions for the 2014+ models, which is what prompted my question.

Haven't had the opportunity to ride a 14 or 15 all I know after this flash I wouldn't go back, it transported this bike into the 21st century.
If you have engine breaking and you want it gone then the flash will be your ticket, and I am sure it will add other benefits as well.
Just know your going to be using the break pads more once you reduce the engine breaking.

The engine design was slightly changed in the Gen2 bikes, which required Yamaha to change the programming of the ECU. We also have Yamaha people on the forum and it sure looks like they made a number of changes in response to things that we and other owners didn't like.

Clearly, the performance of my 2014 is far better than the stock 2012 was, and it feels close to the re-flash of the 2012 once above the transition from idle. The flashed 2012 sport mode was harsher off of idle, while the 2014 is more of a usable transition from idle to off-idle. Toward mid and high end, they're not too far apart but it is the smoothness of the Gen2 engine that is noticeable to me.

I'd be looking to smooth the on-off-on throttle transitions which are somewhat abrupt in both S and to a lesser extent in T mode as well. Not really looking for more power, but I certainly don't what to sacrifice any either. Compared to my ST1300, which isn't particularly known for smooth transitions, the Super Tenere is more abrupt still. I just haven't found any references to a re-flash that will do what I want for the '15 and later Teneres.

The 14/15 throttle mapping is definitely better than the 12/13, but it is still "restricted" by definition.

I can tell the 14/15 is more satisfying stock as I don't get a lot to reflash.

After doing a test ride on a new 15 I told the Yamaha reps that it was slow . You should of herd them , so offered them the key to mine , and told them they will find out what the s10 will do .
