Took the bike to local dealer for 600 mile service. Looked at the bill and I was charged for 5 qts of oil. This raised a red flag, as we know the bike holds 3.59 qts with oil filter. So I asked the question we would all ask, why? The service manager asked the tech what was the deal and why so much oil. He said it is a dry sump motor and was comp drained, added 4qts ran the bike and it looked like it was still low so he added another ½ qt, and this put the oil at the right level. I said no shit. The book still says with oil filter it holds 3.59qts so what are you doing to get out extra oil. This went unanswered and I paid the bill and headed out the door. I went straight home to research this issue. Site glass is full as it has been since I bought it. So not sure how much oil was in it, I should have changed it myself and measured it. And if that wasn’t enough the oil filter was leaking and oil was all over my new bike, not happy. Long story short the service manager handled this issue very well, offered and gave me back every dime I paid for the service (250.00, used full synthetic oil) and offered to completely redo it for free. I passed on the free service and did it myself, as I will do for now on. But my question is what trained tech ignors the book and just adds oil as he feels he should. ::010::
