I'm curious about the headlight and windshield assembly. Are the mounting points for the windshield the same distance apart as the previous version? What I'm getting at is if the new adjustable mounting bracket can be used with the older model bike. My only other concern would be if the console from the new bike is mounted differently as well.

Man, if I had 2 Tenere's, one of them would be in real trouble. :)
Kinda like having spare boots. The used pair are gonna get really used now.

I have a favor to ask, since you have an earlier model and the new model, could you confirm that the seats are interchangeable between the two. Thanks!

Someone in another thread had posted an overlay of the old and new windshields, and the mounting holes are spaced very differently. No idea if the new bracket will fit the Gen1 bike, but I have my doubts. Shall we ask Travex to try swapping them out? :D

Hi everyone,

I sold my 2012 ST last Friday to buy the new 2014 ST ES, XT1200ZE called in Europe. I paid my deposit for the first one to arrive to where i live, Izmir Turkey which is expected to arrive at the first week of April. We have 2 color options here for the ES version, Yamaha Blue and Competition White, and i chose the blue. Today i asked my Touratech dealer about some specific accessories whether they will fit the 2014 ST and he sent me the attached list. That may give you an idea which parts / accessories may fit from the previous bike and what has changed.

Travex thanks for all the info you provided, much appreciated.

Thanks for that list yozbutev, it could be a good guide until people in the U.S. start to get the 2014 in their hands. Congratulations on the new bike!

Scoobynut: You bet... And no, we shall not. :D

SugarHighRider: The measurement between the upright brackets are identical at about 8-7/8" apart. However, there is an additional valance component with side wind deflectors behind the screen that becomes effective as the screen is raised. Likely that would be part of a complete assembly. From appearances it seems doable.

TommyBwell: Sure thing.

snakebitten: You said a mouthful! I've avoided the temptation of putting aggressive shoes on it for nearly two years for fear I'd treat it as I had my previous dirt bikes. That temptation is intense.

NickBrewer3: They do interchange perfectly. On that, I had mentioned that the seat was thinner. I came to that conclusion a few ways: First, it was planted in my head as I had read it more than once. Next, it was because my feet are now more firmly on the ground. Lastly, it's two toned appearance lends to the illusion that it is. Fact is, they seem to be identical when held up to one another.

yozbutev: You're most welcome. Congrats to you!

Funny. If my wife would have gone for that Glee Strom I already had it in my head that I would give up both the '12 Tenere's and get an ES. My wife and I were both a little disappointed she didn't go for the Strom (she did think it was cool looking).

Great looking bike you have there Travex. You are doing nothing to decrease the temptation factor.

I'll continue to post up anything that might be considered useful and will get around to pics and ride impressions as I can. As I'm fortunate to have the two at the moment I'd be glad to do any comparisons that I'm not thinking of... So please nudge me if you'd like to know something in particular.
I'd like to know how the 14 compares to a flashed S10. Have any friends with a flashed bike?

Thanks for those great pics. ::012::

Do you think the Rigid 6" LED light will fit under the headlights, like it does on the '12, seeing that they've added that cover there?

Doesn't look like anything has changed under there to keep you from that. I'm mounting the same light using Rigids' 1" bar mount. Although the illuminated panel-mount switch included with the light is a nice one, I'll be going with a bar mount switch TBD.

I have come to the conclusion that I am suffering from Super Tenidus. I just spent ten minutes looking at pictures of Travex's switches, blinkers and instrument panel. I believe the only known cure is a new Super Tenere. I've got an appointment with my neurosurgeon in the morning. Maybe he will prescribe me one. I hope Obamacare covers it!!

mingo: Thinking back I didn't answer your question well enough. For me the plastic panel is nothing (I like the bare look), and consider it a sacrificial part. A closer look makes me think you could get away with using the panel with a little fab work work on it. When I bought the bike the dealer asked if I minded if they cut out the center portion of it to accommodate Yamaha's own crash bars... Which makes me think that portion was designed to be sacrificial, which it was. Those bars preclude me from mounting the Rigid SR2 conventionally with it's brackets. Had I not gone with the OEM bars that panel would be on the shelf.

TommyBwell: I'll reserve the congrats and wish you happy hunting tomorrow. Take two aspirin and keep us posted. Good luck getting what you want for what you want it for!
