I'm going from a 2012 to a 2014 standard and was wondering the same thing (I have the OEM panniers, though). The OEM side case mounts for the 2014 have the same part # as the 2012 mounts, so I'm not sure why Touratech says the HB case rack won't work. I'm keeping my OEM panniers either way, but I have little doubt they'll transfer over to the new bike.
If they pulled that information from Touratech Germany that could explain the reason as the racked mount over top of the factory grab handles and Euro models don't have them. Back in January at the Vancouver bike show there was someone (from Germany) at the Touratech booth - said everything will fit, same bike.

After looking at pictures of the Touratech pannier mounts, I could see where there might be a problem with the ES fill panel on the right side interfering with the mounts. For the standard version of the 2014's part #'s seem to match up pretty closely with the 2013 Matte Gray Tenere for the brackets and tail pieces.

Is that panel removable? What is it's purpose?

I just put 80 miles on mine. It certainly handles differently than my 2012 did. Seems to drop into corners a bit quicker.
"New tire effect" possibly? If your old tires were scalloped new ones would leave this impression.

Travex, Thanks for the update on the FZ-1 Fuse block location. Hmmm... I too will be wanting to put one on my 14 ES if it ever gets here. That was the perfect place to put it. Let me/us know where you finally put it, please.

Well I spoke with George at Romney Cycles in Romney, WV yesterday as I wanted an up date on when my bike would arrive.

Crap!!!!!!! :( :( :( George had said that I would get the last one that they ordered off Yamaha's first shipment. Well, that story has now changed. He said it looks like mine will be on the next shipment from Yamaha and that could be late May or early June! Damn!!!!! ::005:: ::007:: ::005:: ::007::

It's not that I need the 14 ES right now as my 12 is doing just fine. However, the idea was that I wanted to get my 12 with over 62,000 miles on it on the market before I got many more miles on it to help resale value NOW in the spring while others may be looking for a bike. I know I know... at 62,000 mile it's probably too many for a lot of looky-lou "bikers". I also know that anyone who really knows bike that 62,000 is nothing for this bike. I just, perhaps wrongly, thought that I could perhaps get a few more bucks out of the 12 now rather than wait until it has over 100,000 miles???

I know... I know ::021:: I pretty much already do that. I just wanted to do it on a 2014 ES! ::26::

sounds rather like when I bought my s10. sold my wee just days before the tsunami with the knowledge that my 10 would be here within a month...there was still snow on the ground but selling the old bike was half the financing for the new. the end result was that I owned a super blackbird for a few months, only because I knew I could flip it for a profit, happily the s10 showed up months early, the xx sold in days.

I'm sorry to hear about your misfortune, and the misinformation that you received.
You mention wanting to sell your motorcycle at 62k miles, rather than in May or June, and then continue on to talk about selling a bike with 100k miles on it. Are you saying that in the next two months, you're going to ride 38k miles?! Even if you put 5k on it, and sell it at 67k miles rather than 62k miles, I can't see there being a big difference in the selling price.

Sure thing Brick, glad it was a help. It did end up in that spot with the 2 new fuses staying where relocated earlier. I used the back plate with a couple strips of good velcro and it's pretty solid. The side covers will be off again soon for a couple new circuits so I'll put a pic up for you then.

Sorry to hear of the delay. Those untimely transitions can be a real inconvenience. Here's hoping you get an early surprise!

Ok I'm glad the FZ 1 ended up in the same spot. I intended to use Velcro. I bolted mine in and it was a pain. But I installed one for my friend Chris and we used Velcro and it worked great.

Yea this delay on the 14 ES has me thinking of lots of options. My biggest worry is that I'm attending the www.ridemsta.com national rally in Rapid City, SD June 8 - 11. But a group of us intend to leave western NC like the 1st or 2nd of June. I had hoped to have the 14 and have it broke in by then. Oh well shit happens.

SPX: you are right those additional miles at this point shouldn't make any difference on how much I get when I sell it. Re: me getting 38,000 more miles in a couple of months... No but it looks like if I'm lucky I will get to rack up 12,000 or so! Yippie! I'm a lucky dog!

So I had a go on a 2014 XT1200ZE (ES for US customers) and can report that S mode, while smoother than the 1st Gen's stock S mode, still felt notably down on power compared my ECUnleashed flashed S10. Would still have to flash it to get that arm-wrenching instant response that some of us know and love.

Hmmm... Interesting. I never had mine reflashed. I did the fuse thing and really didn't see enough change to warrant the expense of a reflash. However that being said I never got to ride one with the reflash either.

Hey, Brick. If all goes as planned, you can ride one in a couple weeks at the MSTA Helen event.

Thanks for your thoughts twinrider. Although the CSM was enough to put the delivery where I prefer, I have been curious to learn of the contrast with a flashed S10. Can't imagine it'll be too long before one's offered for the 14.

I think you are saying that the Euro models don't have grab handles. If so you're wrong. Both my 2011 and 2013 models had factory grab handles and the pannier mounts fit on top of them. Without them, I suppose you could use spacers but, come to think of it, I've never seen an S10 without the grab handles.

Judging by a 2014 test ride, the engine feels different, especially in S mode, because that was Yamaha's intention in taking out the link pipe between the two downpipes. They wanted more character (official) which is another way of saying that the link pipe smoothed the engine rsponse and they chose to "unsmooth" it. Not a forward step in my view, They have changed the porting so there might be a little more go in the midrange but it will need a dyno to be sure.

I understand that but on the 2014 models, only the ZE (ES) has grab handles, the standard one does not - even Yamaha is selling a spacer kit to fit their bracket kit.
