I'm afraid I'm out too. I was trying to use this event as motivation to rehab my leg so I could shift again but it did just the opposite. I've realized that I may never shift manually again. So for now I'm going to sell my S10 and get a Honda CTX with a DCT. At least I'll be riding. Y'all have a great time and I wish I could join you.
I'm not sure of your circumstances, but I would urge you to work hard on physical therapy, it may not bring about instant results, but the more you put in, the greater the rewards

Whorepedo, I have another rider coming along with on a Strom. Sat night food gathering? Blairsville has a great seafood place called Mikes Seafood Market. Usually busy on Sat night though. They may allow table reservations.

Bloodline and Mrs. Bloodline will be attending.

Edit- I spoke too soon. Already have a conflict. Mrs. Bloodline is pissed. She's sick of boating and ready to go on bike trip.

Got a friend riding in with me on a Harley. don't worry he can keep up and then some.
Cool. The street ride (I assume a Harley is not going on the dual sport ride :)) will be somewhat spirited but I have no intention of setting speed records. I'm more interested in enjoying the ride and the company and making sure everyone gets back to the campground in one piece than how fast we can go :). I am more of a Pace rider on the street. Maintain corner speed but not whack the throttle in the straights and working on keeping smooth through out the ride. I go to the race track to go stupid fast :)

I was checking for forest road closings yesterday and according to the Tellico Forestry Dept, Davis Creek Rd is closed near the state line. That road would have been a nice shortcut to the Cherohala/Bald River/Citico areas. Other nearby closures were the Fires Creek and Tuni Gap roads (just east of Murphy). NC28 (Fontana Dam north towards Deals Gap) is being repaved (nightly delays).

I've gone around the barricades on Davis Creek several times, but I hear they are cracking down now because someone vandalized some of the construction equipment. I guess we'll just have to use Joe Brown to get to Tellico.

MrTwisty, do you know if we can connect Boiling Springs Rd with Little Snowbird? Looks like there is a road (in Google Earth) but it could be on private property. If so, Little Snowbird would lead you out to 143 near the Cherohala/Joyce Kilmer/129.

I don't think Little Snowbird connects to Boiling Springs but Little Snowbird does connect to some dirt roads that lead down to the airport in Anderson.

Well, I did not know Davis Creek was closed. :( That definitely changes the loop I had planned. ::010:: I WAS going to do Davis Creek to River Road to North River Road to the Cherohala to Indian Boundary to Citico to Double Camp to Citico to 360 to the Cherohala to Old Furnace to 68 to Joe Brown. Huh.....that really changes things.

Whoever is doing dirt, I highly recommend Citico Road / Double Camp. I was up there three weeks ago 2-up and the road is in very good shape - almost no gravel. Not sure who is leading rides, but I could do the above loop once I figure out a go-around for Davis Creek. May have to do Joe Brown both ways. Should be a mild adjustment, though it will add milage as Davis Creek is a great way to get down to River Road from Crawfords.

Boiling Springs does not connect to Little Snowbird. However, there is a good dirt road (some call it the Dirt Dragon but I'm not sure that's official since the road itself is not official) that connects Little Snowbird to Andrews - as Twisty says, dumping one near the airport or right into town. I was intending that to be another day's loop unless others have better routes planned.

Lookin' forward to this and meeting y'all. I'll be there mid-morning Thursday if anybody wants to hook up and go for a ride mid to later morning. I'll be camping at a water/electric site and have a black box trailer (says MooseRacingUSA on side) that doubles as my camper/tent.

Hey guys. I know Whorepedo asked me to put together a dual sport type ride on Sat, but I just got back from CO last week after being there for 2 weeks and haven't had time to sit down and plan anything out.

I know Mr Twisty knows this area well and I've seen several other chime in too, especially with new info about the area I don't even know. I think with all the knowledge, we can just make this a big collaboration effort for all those that know the area and want to DS ride or one of you guys that really know the area can stick your hand up and lead. I'll be there to DS ride and looking forward to it, but everyone that knows the area well, jump in and help.

Between the 4 or 5 that know the roads and the 20 or so Garmins, I think we'll be good! Hard to find a bad road in that area. Too bad Davis Creek is closed.
Can we get a Thursday recon by some of the early birds? Maybe we can go around (discreetly) and access Tellico/N River/Citico areas. Joe Brown will work if need be and I can guide (offroad) but limited to the Cherohala/Nantahala/Deal's Gap areas. We'll work it out, gonna be fun, looking forward to it. Icecold Dan and I plan to roll in sometime Friday.

I'd be happy to lead a ride or follow. I don't care. I know enough good stuff in the area to satisfy almost any rider, and we can make it as easy or as technical as anyone desires.

Unfortunately, I won't be able to be there until Friday evening after work. I'll try to sneak out a little early.
