    Left front shock leaking oil........

Hi guys. A few questions for you more knowledgeable owners. First of all, I live in Honduras and my dealer doesn’t stock parts for my 2014 basic model. Would I be better off looking for a replacement shock or looking for a seal kit? I think they replace seals on the smaller 125cc to 250cc bikes...

    Starting problem.

All wires around ignition and rocker kill switch look goos and show continuity. No visible corrosion. Changed the starter relay today at the dealer. Aha! The old one had four terminals that were black at the tip. Started 2 dozen times today with a new one, just to be sure. All good. Starter...

Will have my dealer go through and clean the connections. Thank you.

    Starting problem.

Well thanks, WJB and Eric. Seems I should have mentioned that I have been using the key to shut off the bike for 4.5 years now, with no issues. I have never ever used the red kill switch to stop the motor. When I go to start the motor, I have always first turned on the ignition switch until all...

    Starting problem.

2014 base model . About once every 10-15 times I srart the bike, by pushing down on the red switch, nothing happens. One time I waited 20 min. and it fired up, but the starter motor didn’t seem to turn as fast as normal. My dealer just replaced the battery. Same thing just happened on a trip...

    Fork maintenance?

Thanks, Jrusell, I like the idea of just changing new oil every year. I don’t know how to do it myself and am not mechanically inclined. I live in Central America and the service manager at my local Yamaha shop just quit this week. His assistant gal is telling me I have to change a seal on each...

    Fork maintenance?

Thanks. 22,000 mi. on my 2014 base model Tenere. Should I be wanting to change out tho front fork oil now? Seals too, I guess? I ride easy and no oil leaks....knock on wood. How about that mono- shock in the rear....any maint. required? It runs like new....and rides comfortably....2 up. Had full...

Help! 76 yr. old ST1200 owner looking for final bike..........

Hey Scott & Cycledude. Thanks for the replies. Scott, you have a point....but am counting on more experienced riders to point an old-timer in the right direction. So far, people who have taken the time to hear me out, have steered me towards the Wing for two-up ridingon pavement, as you...

Help! 76 yr. old ST1200 owner looking for final bike..........

Thank you all for your help. Didn’t realize the CTX1300 was discontinued. At 76:5 (now) , i’m still young at heart....and physically fit (swim every day). As I mentioned, I currently love the S10 for local adventure riding....but no off road riding for me anymore when I move back to the states...

    I need convincing!!

With the SW Motech bars, you can remove both side plates and the r/si upper plate for the battery and fuses w/o removing the bars. Just watched my dealer do it.

Help! 76 yr. old ST1200 owner looking for final bike..........

Sincere thanks to all you guys who took the time to offer me good advice. Much appreciated. I will certainly give it a LOT of thought, plus test ride the GW and the FJR1300 for 1/2 day each, if I can. Cruise control is a must. (I enjoy it now). The GW electric forward/ reverse really interests...

Help! 76 yr. old ST1200 owner looking for final bike..........

This is way off topic, but I don’t know where else to go. Forgive me. Here goes. The XT1200 is perfect for the crappy roads here in Central America. Am going into my 4th full year.......95% 2-up 10 day trips. Am moving back to the US in 2 yrs and would appreciate some help from you more...

The Mitas E-07 tire thread merge-fest

Mileage report...E07 rear and TKC80 front. A bit better than the original Bridgestones...with the same riding conditions. Got 16,000 km from the BR's and 17,000 km from the second pair. Normally 2 up, 60-70 mph, 90% on "paved" Honduras roads with potholes. Reason I went this way is because once...

    Cruise Control fault-quick fix.

The yellow dash light would come on okay, but the green "set" light would not turn on, thus the CC would not function. Solved it with a 10 minute visit to a local bike shop. The mech. used 10mm and 12mm wrenches and adjusted the rear brake pedal so that the forward end of the peg is lifted...

    Cruise control fault

Glad you found the problem, Sandford. I have a 2014 with the same symptoms. Solved it today with a 10 minute visit to a local bike shop. The mech. used 10mm and 12mm wrenches and adjusted the rear brake pedal so that the forward end of the peg is lifted upward. There are two adjustment nuts to...

The Mitas E-07 tire thread merge-fest

E07 rear-43 (2 up) 40 (1 up) , TKC 80 front 38. Mostly pavement, 60-70 mph max, dry conditions. Down here, once I leave the main road it is loose gravel, loose dirt and round river rock. I do not change pressure for the short time offroad. They really instill more confidence than the OEM...

    Super Tenere Under Powered?

Goldwing is right. 0-60 in 3.5 sec. Wow! Beats most sports cars. In addition, it does the 1/4 mile in 11.6 sec. Doing 106. Faster than my two 'vettes and my Jag XKE back in the day. It is a personal thing, of course, but my 2014 is plenty fast enough for me....even 2-up. I am in the touring...
