Have kept the S10 and still love it but also have an MT-09 Tracer.
Much lighter.
Quick summary: After the S10 the Tracer feels like a pushbike with a great stonking motor!
Have had a very slight oil weep from the small diameter hose running from the water pump on the right side twice.
70 000 km and 114 000 km.
Both times seem to be related to overfilling with oil.
There was the tiniest amount of oil in the plastic rock guard.
So far have ignored it as it goes away...
I topped mine up once (about 105 000 km) thinking it was low.
Put too much in and thought it was OK.
When I went for my next service my mechanic said there was a little oil coming from a hose connected to the water pump and he thought there might be a crook seal.
When I mentioned the excess oil...
105 000 km in four and a half years.
Inner oil seal on shaft drive at 70 000 km.
Fitted 2014 CCT at 95 000 km as insurance. A bit noisier than I liked.
Two hard starts at about 70 000 km and maybe 80 000 km. WOT did the trick.
This is the reply I received from Yamaha Australia:
We shall be notifying owners of affected units on the 28th February, regarding the headlight sub-lead exchange/recall.
At 70 000 km I had to replace the oil seal on the side next to the wheel hub. Not a big job. Looked like I was losing a lot of oil but drive was still almost full. No problems since.
Thought I was the first Aussie with harness problems.
Blew the 20 amp fuse every time the bike was started.
The auto-electrician checked the harness and connections but all were fine and showed no signs of overheating.
It turned out one of the H7 bulbs had blown in such a way that it was blowing...
