I have a 2012 Raven and i bought it new 09-12, and in 10-13 i noticed that it had an oil leak on the right side of the motor and was leaking on the header. I could not figure out where it was coming from so i took thebike to the dealer and they said that it was a bad o-ring behind the water pump that caused the leak, has anyone experienced this or even heard of it?

Don't think it's ever been posted about on this forum.

The issues with a Tenere are incredibly finite. I guess as they get older, we'll see a few of these oddball issues show up.

Very unusual for a Tenere, but the reality of bikes is that water pump seals go bad more often than we want. The DRZ 400 has a known issue with water pump seals, as does the KLR 650. Not a big deal to fix, just annoying. In your case, rest assured that it is so uncommon, that I have never heard mention of bad water pump seals, and I have been here for about 13 months, and I come here every day.

Happens, o-ring could have been pinched / slightly damaged when it was initially assembled. If you have YES, get the dealer to repair it, if not order one up and replace it yourself. Not a difficult fix at all.

Good luck!

I had an 03 ST1300 and at 10k , the mechanics seal went out which created an oil leak. IT was warranty but still odd to me. So uncommon so far for this bike, but not these modern waterpumps and the seals they use. Shouldn't be a big deal and nothing to worry about.

Have had a very slight oil weep from the small diameter hose running from the water pump on the right side twice.
70 000 km and 114 000 km.
Both times seem to be related to overfilling with oil.
There was the tiniest amount of oil in the plastic rock guard.
So far have ignored it as it goes away with the correct volume of oil in the sump.
