Got my bike a full three weeks ago. After the second ride of about two hours, I felt some tightness at my upper back. Going through many of the existing threads, I am ready to give the 2'' Roxy risers a shot. If that doesn't cut it, will consider replacing the handlebars as well.

There seem to be two options to overcome the clutch & break hoses challenge with the 2'' risers. Jaxon's extension cables, and the AltRider kit. Cost aside, was wondering if anyone has a view on which option is cleaner / better for the long run, or are they both equally good.

For those who went with Jaxon's solution, does the throttle cable require any adjustments, and does it require bleeding the break fluids.

Cheers,

Talreli, you should go ahead and order those bad boys! I've had mine a month, or so, and really like the mod. I still use stock bar (ProTaper EVOs did not have enough room for the levers/switch housings) but I now sit more upright and the hunchback that was forming between my shoulder blades has gone away! Standing position is very natural and probably benifits the most from the Rox risers.

As for the brake/clutch lines, I moved my levers inboard as much as I could and loosened the ties holding the wiring along the frame. Snug at full lock but I'm not too concerned. Good luck with making it fit for you.

You have New Jersey as your location, but then you close your post with "cheers"?!?!?!

I have 2" risers with Pro Taper bars. Not quite as high or as much pull back as the stock bars would be. I moved the brake hose like AltRider and left the clutch line. Not too bad. I do have a set of Jaxon's long lines on the shelf but I got lazy.

Do NOT trust anything that is "a little tight" at any point. The factory lines are rubber with ss crimps. They will fail eventually. It may not kill you, but it would certainly suck to blow a clutch or brake line in a parking lot 1000 miles from home.

I have the 1" up and 1" back Rox risers if that is what you mean. Lines are not even snug with them even at full lock. I'm 6'2" and am very comfortable sitting or standing.

I have the 2" risers on order...I plan to do the Altrider method for cable adjustment...I have the parts already in the garage so I figure I'll try their solution first before swapping lines.

As stated even a little snugness can lead to wear over time....Make sure your RPMs do not change when you turn the bars lock to lock

The aggressive sweep of the stock bars might be more of a contributing factor of your discomfort... the ATV Pro Tapers are an 1" wider than their MX counterparts and will fit all the stock controls.

That's what I have. I have a set of "ATV Low" mounted in 2" Rox Pivoting Risers.

+1 on the first part, I did Fasst Bars, never could find a good bar with enough real estate for all my crap. But then I never tried the ATV bars. Happy with my Fasst kinda pricey though.

FASST bars (15° Tenere) with 2" rotating Rox. Extended lines.

Ergonomic Bliss. Sittin or standing. Spent 4 hours standing in 1 day, a couple of weeks ago. At 55 years old I was very pleased.

X2.. this is NOT an area to save a few bucks... Im really surprised Altrider even suggested this. Everything on a motorcycle must be safe. The idea of just letting the rubber lines pull the hard lines is not the 'right' way to do the job....... ::005::

Sorry, yea with 2" ROX risers. Now I was going to get the longer lines from Jax but once the sweep was out due to the removal of the stocks bars I was able to get them to work. I made minor adjustment to the front brake line as it was pointing down so I loosened it up and rotated it to so there was no tension on the lines.

At full bar lock I can feel slack in all my lines, I did take them out of a tie down point on the right side just to be safe. If you want I will post a pic or PM it to you.

Good luck the stock bars suck, this is bu far the best mod for me.

+1 on that. I have the same along with GS bars (don't throw rocks). For me it was not about height but reach and the bend of the bars which throws your elbows up which is what was hurting my back and shoulders. I tried three sets of bars before settling on the GS bars. Got some used off ADV because they are real pricy.

Maybe a new bar with a wider sweep is a good place to start before even trying the risers.

What thread inserts did you use on the ATV bar for bolting up the bar end weights and hand guards.

These:

I stopped by my local shop to ask them about them and the guy went to the back, came out with them in a plain baggie and said "here ya go, on the house"!
