So 34 years of hardtail Harley days are over for me. Have a cabin in the mountains with 7 miles of dirt road and the 650 XR is too little on freeway. I saw my first ST yesterday on the 10 fwy, going well over 100 and it looked very stable in high winds. Not fond of a 4500 dollar tune up so BMW is so out of the question. Do you owners enjoy this machine? Today at Long Beach yamaha the salesman didnt know what the ST was, he thought I said"canary" and I had to locate the bike myself. It was 17,995 with no bags. Sort of pricey. Wondering where in california I could locate a knowlegable sales staff with a decent price. Thank you and ride safe!!! ST

Good to hear you like the Super Tenere. It keeps on getting better. Tonight, while at PCP Motorsports (Sacramento) I saw the Super Tenere's advertised for $13,799 before all the other negotiable crap. Actually saw one go out the door at that price.

Its an awesome machine and is very stable on the freeway. See if you can get a test ride. $17,995 is way to high. You should be able to get one out the door for under $14.5. I got mine out the door here in florida for under 14. Good luck!

You can find lightly used ones now with a bit of equipment now here and there if you want to save a few bucks. San Jaun Capistrano had one there with Yamaha cases for 13,000 and change. As for the machine I am really enjoying riding it and its potential off roads.

My dealer is moving them for 12,999. It would be a flight and return if you got it out of Wisconsin, but maybe worth it!

My bike has 203 miles on it before i was hospitalized and i can say the on road and dirt road riding on the s10 is some of the best in my 150,000+ plus miles of riding a motorcycle. This bike is intoxicating.

I was just at that same dealership the other checking out that same black S10 they had in stock.

Those prices they have on their sticker sure is funny. $18,000 for the bike? I hope they at least give you a tube of KY jelly :))

Is that for a used model?

Unfortunately, California residents won't be able to register out of state motorcycles with less than 7500 miles unless they are CA emissions approved (aka 50-state legal bike) :mad:

Welcome to the forum. I am to a recovering Harley owner as well. I have seen the light with this motorcycle. Comparing the Tenere to a Harley is like comparing a cruise missile to a john deere tractor. This motorcycle is simply amazing! You get a lot of bike for the price. Now California pricing is different than the Midwest. I paid 12,420.
Prior to my purchase of the Super Tenere I looked at several bikes. BMW R1200RT and R1200 GS. Kawasaki’s KLR, Concours 1400. Honda ST1300. Out of all those bikes, the Tenere won hands down in price, performance, maintenance, and safety features like traction control and an outstanding ABS system
Coming from my Harley background and current profession. Being a slave to dealerships costs was getting old and very expensive. With the internet your going to know more than any sales employee. When I bought my tenere, the sales guy was very honest and said, “I know nothing about this bike. You probably know more.”
Best of luck

As much I'd want them to, I doubt they would go for that low. Invoice on the bike is $12,705 according to seedealercost.com

After I had already made the deal for $12,750 from another dealer, I received a call form Yamaha of N Hollywood stating that they were prepared to go a little lower.

I know that Chaparral motor sports in San Bernardino has one...they called me two weeks ago with one in stock.

::004:: You picked a heckuva group to pose this question to!

Seriously though, after a lifetime of sport and sport-touring bikes I can tell you this bike is the best all-around bike I've ever owned. My previous ride was an 07 Honda VFR800 and this bike, to me, does EVERYTHING better, and the VFR is no slacker.

Better handling in curves? Surprisingly YES ::26::
Better on the slab? YES ::001::
More Comfortable? YES 8)
More fun-factor? YES ::014::
Better off-road? Obviously YES ::024::
Plenty of Power? YES O:) (And coming from Harley, you're going to love the power-to-weight ratio)
Stable at felony speeds? YES >:D ::019::

And to me a very attractive and 'different' package. I get more questions about it at fuel stops than any bike I've ever owned.
It has turned me into a Yamaha believer! ::022::

All that's left for you is to find the right deal and ::021::

Please tell me where you got your deal from. I'm thinking of buying one! I'm not joking either.
