Well arm is sore , knees are sore, ankles are sore, elbows are sore, nothing really seems that bad but I sure could not sleep very well last night. Hopefully things will go better tonight.

I managed to get my mother in law in on 29 March for her first shot at Kaiser. I had an appointment all ready to go on the 19th locally. Unfortunately it was snagged while I was typing in her info. I am so grateful I got her in.

Ibuprofen works wonders. It's ok to take it after the shot, just not before.

Well the arm is still a little sore from the shot but that seems pretty normal, all the other minor aches and pains have disappeared and I slept great last night !
The weather is beautiful here so rode Goldwing a couple hundred miles yesterday and plan to do that again today.

Managed to snag a first dose appointment for my wife on the first day she's eligible which is Monday 3/15. I'm due for my second next week as well. Had my first dose on 2/16 so I think I'm eligible on 3/15, though the card they gave me says 3/16, but that would be the 29th day technically, but so far can't find any second dose appointments later than 3/12. Ventura County should release more dates on Monday and I'll go from there.

Tarrant Co. (Ft. Worth) announced today, that they are receiving enough doses of the vaccine, that they are now taking sign-ups from everybody over 16 years of age. No restrictions.

5 days after my second shot now and I never had any more than a very minor pain at the injection either time. There was a group of us older folks that went through both together. The nurse asked the group before we got started if any of us had a bad reaction. Everybody said it was easy. I read an article the other day that said that 80% don't have bad reactions. The media would rather write up every bad reaction than the fact that most have almost none. I shot baskets for an hour after my first one and lifted weights after my second.

I told y'all about Denton Co. already vaccinating 100k in a month. Now, the media is reporting that the White House is requesting their (Denton Co.) operation plan, and drone video footage. The plan is to use Denton's plan in as many locations as possible. Denton Co. only has about 300K citizens. . . . so they're already a third of the way done.

I have had both shots. I got my 2nd Moderna shot last week. I was a little tired after the first shot and had mild flu like symptoms the day after the 2nd shot. I have no regrets and feel great about being able to be around my 92 yo father with out worries. He has had his 2 shots and had no symptoms. My wife did not have any symptoms either.

I had an opportunity to go get my vaccine yesterday. The Las Vegas Convention Center is being used a mass vaccination site, and I was there a little over an hour altogether. I chose the J&J to be one and done (I could have chosen the Pfizer vaccine as well). My arm was sore most of yesterday after the shot, and it still is a little bit this morning. I also have a minor headache that I woke up with, but I expect that to go away in a few hours.

My mother in law received Johnson & Johnson vaccine at the local Walmart yesterday. Brother in law got his first Moderna shot at the V A last week. Today is the first day in Texas without a state mandated mask policy but businesses and local government agencies can require masks.

Yeah, one thing comes to mind. . . . "LET'S GET READY TO RUMBLE". Both sides of the mask debate are likely to lose their minds.

The charts below are very preliminary data and they note that "high quality data not yet available" which is why some of the bars are not filled in. Take these with a BIG grain of salt, knowing that they will change but it's what we have so far. I've seen other data showing Pfizer and Moderna against the South Africa variant anywhere from 57%-84% effective.

More important is what the outcome will be if a vaccinated person does get COVID. These vaccines work two ways so there are two charts below. My big concern has always to not be a long-termer with severe symptoms so even with J&J this is really encouraging.

No surprising to see similar efficacy against the UK variant given the drop in infection rates (similar to the US) occurring in the UK right now where that variant is dominant. Encouraging news. I think once we get better quality data, the South African variant too will look less scary. This will hopefully take the wind out of the sails of the media scare mongers!

Interesting on the initial chart, that they don't have the numbers for the U.K. variant on the Pfizer efficacy. The predominate strain in Israel is the U.K. variant (92%), and the actual numbers (not lab), the efficacy is 94.1% with the Pfizer.
