Sorry to hear all the nightmares of trying to register for a vaccine. Especially the second dose. Here in Indiana you register on a web site. You do not get kicked off and registration is easy. The average appointment is about a week out but has gotten much better. Yesterday I got to test it and there were openings the next day at a nearby hospital. Each location shows what vaccine will be administered so if you don't want a Phizer then move on to a different location in a nearby county. My wife got her vaccine in our small town at the local health dept. and while there they made her appointment for her second dose. This is done at all locations in Indiana. Nobody has to get online again and make an appointment for there second dose. She gets her second Moderna shot today and they even called yesterday to remind her. Seems pretty well run to me.
I hope everyones location becomes as efficient .

Went to the supermarket again today. I used my normal polite request of ""scuse me. I am protecting your family, would you mind protecting mine".

Saw five people with masks protecting their Adam's apple , three chose to get close enough for me to politely remark as above.

Good luck to all, Sierra, etc in Texas...

But they still had their faceshields on? Or is that not a Cavite or Metro Manila mandate now?

And for those thinking faceshield mandate is extreme it wasn't that long ago that backshields were required between rider and passenger in the Philippines. I shit you not, some politician thought that was a feasible solution and got a law passed and enforced for a short period. LOL LOL

Only exception was for a couple living together. I saw a video of police pulling over a motorcycle for no backshield. The boy stated they were a couple living together. The policeman then instructed them to prove it by kissing and the girl ran away. :)

Beautiful Wife got her 1st shot, (Pfizer), on last Monday. NG guy poked her arm and must have hit a nerve, she jumped like she'd been slapped! He pulled the needle out when that happened too. He pokes her again, she doesn't even feel it, injects the vaccine and all done. Her arm was sore for a couple of days, but all good now. No side effects for her. Like me, she had an email waiting when we got home to make the appointment for her 2nd shot. Tried to get-r-done, but the system was down. She called too, and they told her they were having problems, try the next day. We tried that night, but on Tuesday, no problem at all going online and making the 2nd appointment. By the end of March we will both have had our 2nd shot. I hear 3 weeks after that for full benefits.

Now, even though I know we only have some partial benefits from the 1st shot, the emotional and phycological change in my wife is interesting. She's been house bound for a year. Gone out maybe 4 times, not counting some walks around the neighborhood. I've done all the shopping, etc. So on Wed she suddenly tells me "Lets do an over night trip." Umm, ok. So we are currently in Clarksdale, MS and have spent the last two days finding MS Blues Trail markers. Social distancing is easy, they are all outside. Most were done while riding the scooters, fully geared up, no contact with others. Some of these are waaay out in the sticks or in rough areas where you stop, grab the photo and get moving again without delay. Others are very interesting and scenic, but few, if any people around. The 9 in Clarksdale we walked for from the hotel and no issues distancing. We mask up as needed. Eat is take away or delivery. Hell, even the Dominos here is mandatory contactless delivery. They have a space for instructions on where to leave the order, tip online, pay online. Must be a real event if you want to pay in cash when you get your pizza! "PUT THE CASH ON THE GROUND AND STEP AWAY!" :D

Anyway, I was real surprised that she wanted to go do an overnight trip again. She seriously has the wanderlust bug from way back, so no surprise she wants to travel, but big surprise she wants to travel now. We have traveled in the past a lot, locally, multi-state, multi-day, internationally, etc. Not for the last year though. She's high risk for complications and serious issues if she gets Covid. The family run hotel here in Clarksdale is clean, and maybe has 4 guests. Old school, park in front of your door type. Good rate and they are happy to have us. Skipped housekeeping and just asked for some fresh towels for the second day, so no one in the room except us. The owner/sign in person/housekeeping person was great. Heading home tomorrow. Maybe a 400 or so mile total trip over 3 days. First time she's been out and about like the old days in a while, and we're doing things differently because of Covid restrictions and realities, but it's good to have some normalcy too.

Not trying to be a negative non-binary. . . . but, it rare that there's anything with the first shot; slight injection sight soreness. But, I know what you mean. I t's starting to appear that normalcy is going to return. I had to keep reminding myself that the first shot was a start, not the finish.

Back on line with my turn https://myturn.ca.gov again as of 20:00 hours today and big changes.

It now states if you are between ages 16 and 49 undocumented farm worker or drug addict, convicted felon, homeless, or any other who works in food industry you are eligible for vaccine.

If you check the box that you are between ages 50 and 64 and have:

Cancer, current with debilitated or immunocompromised state, Chronic kidney disease, stage 4 or above, Chronic pulmonary disease, oxygen dependent, Down syndrome, Immunocompromised state from solid organ transplant, Pregnancy, Sickle cell disease, Heart conditions, Severe obesity with a Body Mass Index >= 40 kg/m2, or Type 2 diabetes mellitus with hemoglobin A1c level greater than 7.5%.

And check the box you have:

A physical disability that is so severe and high-risk that one of the following applies: 1) a COVID-19 infection is likely to result in severe, life-threatening illness or death; OR 2) acquiring COVID-19 will limit your ability to receive ongoing care or services vital to your well-being and survival.

Too bad so sad you are not eligible for a vaccine.

At least I got my 82 year old mother in law a Vaccine appointment. In fact I got her moved up to this Monday at a facility that's closer to home.

So check the damn box that says you are "between ages 16 and 49 undocumented farm worker or drug addict, convicted felon, homeless, or any other who works in food industry" and then go get your vaccine. They aren't going to ask you to prove any of that.....

I'll be 65 tomorrow if I make it. Got my shot lined up for 17th. A 70 year old friend of mine got her shot last week. Died that night. WTH coincidence?
That's scary. I've read about it happening. But, the articles don't advise what the actual cause of death was. Was it the vaccine, a stroke, heart attack, or something completely unassociated. We need to know.
