Just heard one semi-positive report. Fox News reporting that if you are vaccinated, have a breakthrough infection and recover, you will likely achieve "super immunity". The same Dr. they interviewed thought we are all going to catch the omicron variant, it is just a matter of time, and you will be better prepared to be asymptomatic or recover with a vaccine.

Sorry, can't copy the link to post. Several sites reporting on the study.

My daughter said something similar and it is VERY much the opposite of the anti-vaxxers contending that nobody knows side effects or what else the new vaccines might do. The point and irony is that the new vaccines do NOTHING to anything beyond one specific target.

In not knowing how mutations would develop, the vaccines in use were made to be too specific for the world we live in a year later.
Yes, we are still learning about this virus, things will improve with more complete knowledge.

From JNBC and the Washington Post today both quoting CDC data

1. Omicron now accounts for 73% of all US Covid cases
2. Vaccination data
a. Unvaxed- 451 Cases & 6.0 deaths per 100,000 people.
b. Vaxed -134 cases & 0.5 deaths per 100,000 people.
c. Boosted-48 cases & 0.1 deaths per 100,000 people
3. there appear to be significant break through cases that are generally mild. No hard data was supplied

Our daughter, her husband and their two teenage children were diagnosed covid positive yesterday. We all had Christmas dinner together and have been in close contact until Friday when her husband developed a dry cough. One home diagnosed positive antigen test later they booked tests for Friday. Results yesterday confirmed the positive antigen tests. My wife and I have had negative antigen tests and will again test tomorrow and again on Wednesday. We both are fully vaccinated incl booster. C'est la vie

Funny how that works, huh? I'm assuming those with the virus are not vaccinated? I've seen on Fakebook, where people are actually trying to convince other people that the vaccine doesn't work, and that's why we are being told to get a booster. Being anti-vaccine because you don't trust it is one thing. Claiming that it doesn't work . . . . I don't even know where to start. They are likely the same people that believe the virus is fake/political. o_O

With any luck Omicron will displace Delta altogether meaning less hospitalization because of seemingly milder symptoms with a possible endemic soon ?

Not sure what's left for us to do considering an isolated population of fully vaccinated and negative tested persons on a boat in the middle of the ocean can still get the virus somehow and have it spread into a full-fledged outbreak. Isn't it about time to admit that this thing has become endemic (like influenza) and start focusing on improving therapeutics and treatments? It appears that there are 2 types of people in this world: those that have contacted covid (and survived) and those that will. Just thinking out loud......

".....several cases in which cruises that required all passengers to be fully vaccinated and tested for COVID-19 saw outbreaks of the virus and a U.S. Navy ship with a crew that the Navy said was "100% immunized" had a COVID-19 outbreak that infected nearly 25% of its crew."

I understand that there are plenty of "breakthrough" cases. But, the cruise ships seem to have an unusually high percentage of breakthrough cases. I tend to doubt the veracity of all the immunization cards. Plenty of fake ones out there. I would imagine that a negative test result can be faked too.

Israel is in final testing for approval of a 4th booster for high risk (elderly and front-line healthcare workers); how long before we're all issued something similar to an insulin pump that monitors antibody levels and automatically injects us on a regular basis?

I see on the CDC website it has ditched the PCR test, so yeah an accurate test would be awesome none of this false positive garbage...something that shows def covid whatever from a common cold.

I’m sure Accurate test are being worked everyday in a lot of countries. This Covid crap is still in its infancy. There’s a lot of good people a lot smarter than Most of us motorcyclist doing all they can. There’s no quarantee. This shit has killed several people close to me. None of them were vaxed. My doc made his rounds again today and told me the same sad story. Everyone at the hospital accept one was unvaxed. I know a 6’8” 290lb stud that’s had it three times. Said he felt like he was gonna croak last time. He’s still antvax to the bone. I was at the hospital get checked out for a hernia. I ask 4 ladies working there if they had been vaxed. Three of them said no and got mad and went on to ramble about how it’s all a bunch of shit. They just claim a “religious” exemption While they looked at all these pitifully sick unvaxed people were fighting for their lives. It reminds me of al bunch of the 35 yr old guys I worked wit offshore 30 years ago that woke up sounding like coughing machines sitting in the bathroom chain smoking trying to get right. But it was almost always the “I’ve got a cold.” Bullshit. while none of the boys that didn’t smoke hardly ever coughed.

Our daughter and husband are both vaccinated (no booster yet) Our grandchildren (15 & 13) were due to be vaccinated on 10th of January. None are in any way ill. Aor daughter and grandaughter have no outward symptoms. Our grandson has a slight runny nose and his father has a very slight dry cough. Even though numbers here in Éire are hitting numbers in excess of 20,000 per day (Pop 5m) the numbers in ICU are less than 100. Whether this is the result of 80% vaccinated or the Omicron strain not being as serious as previous strains, your guess is as good as the professionals.

I am flying to the West Coast this week to attend the funeral of a very old friend who died from Covid. He was unvaxed. His wife told me most of the ICU was unvaxed. She has since been vaccinated. I will attend wearing a 3M NIOSH N95 mask since his church is largely unvaxed......

It just goes on...........

We just returned from a 7-day Mexican Riviera cruise with a group of friends. If there was an outbreak on our ship, I am unaware of it. Besides the requirement to present your vaccination card they test every passenger with a rapid test and you must test negative before boarding. They control all the testing so there's no chance for a faked test. The rapid test is only about 85% accurate though. During the waiting period for results several would be passengers were removed from the terminal after the testing.

The churches are a big problem over here. Vaccination is low (25ish %) but they can still gather in large groups because the right of religion is protected in the constitution. I am not against religion but they need to modernize the way of thinking. It literally kills..
