Had this problem on a Hayabusa K8. Just had a new set of Metzeler tyres, both pro fitted & balanced (dynamic). Rear was fine, yet front was misbehaving like yours. OK up to about 40 mph, but felt dangerous by 60 mph. Held it's pressure just fine.

Turned out the tyre bead had not quite popped out cleanly when mounted on the rim. There was a very slight run out evident at the check line; barely visible though. When lubricated & refitted it took well over 50 psi & quite some 'bang' before it seated correctly on the rim. Then freshly balanced, all was fine. Obviously this was a cast alloy rim - with the S10 it would seem sensible to check the rim is true & spokes taut before mounting the tyre; sounds like you have done this already.

Hope you get it sorted OK ............... KEN

LOL, I just mounted a pair of Mitas 07 Dakars for a buddy, took 55psi on a well lubed front to get it to pop.

Hmm, those are interesting videos. Mine is much less severe, more an annoyance than outright safety issue.

I've decided to just live with it for now, as it is smooth as butter at 60, and phenomenal offroad. I will re-check the bead and see if there is ANY perceptible wobble. I'm planning on putting a set of stockers back on for our CA trip in August, unless I can fix this issue. I'll save these for major offroad excursions.

Not sure why such a fast leap at Heidenau, as they are a smaller company but certainly not a cheaply made tire. Look around the site here or at ADV and you'll see that they definitely have not had the quality and variation problems which Shinko buyers have had.

As for the video of the run-out, the ONLY times I've seen that much have been either when the spokes need to be trued up on dirt bikes or the tire bead wasn't seated. Neither of those have to do with the tire manufacturer.

Checked last night, NO runout and NO unseated bead. I'm still going with an uneven carcass front or rear.

I'll put some stockers on for the roadtrip and tear these up in the dirt.

I'm OK with the Heidenau quality. What I would like to know is where they are being sold "cheap".

Damn! damdamdamdamdam!

I just put some new battlewings on for my upcoming california trip and it STILL bounces! it is NOT the tires.....FML.

That means it's probably suspension related. I am going to start playing around the the rear shock and see if I can figure it out before we head off to CA.

BALLS.

Just found this thread. I have the exact same issue you describe with my 2014 Tenere. Tires are the stock Bridgestones. I checked the balance also...no issue. Was thinking of trying some beads to balance. Please follow up if you find a solution, I'll do the same

Follow-up...
I recently adjusted my (non ES) suspension per the thread in the suspension forum. I found mine to be "out of whack". The front rebound was set all the way stiff. Anyway, the "wheel hop" is much better, perhaps gone. I think I am just feeling the changes in pavement now. Hope this helps someone.

I think I finally fixed my HOP!

I got around to changing the fork oil last night (running heavier springs and oil was getting worn out so damping was too quick) and put in 7wt oil rather than pull them all the way down to reshim as I have a ride coming up.

Not only does the action feel damn near perfect with stock shims (and drilled compression pistons) but the hop is damn near gone! I think I can still go a little stiffer, maybe 10 wt (or reshim stiffer) as the fluid will shear thin with use...but it's about as smooth as I've felt it AND it handles offroad monumentally better than stock!

Basically, for me, the problem was not enough damping in the forks. More damping = less hop.
