Loved my '05 KLR. It was my first adventure bike and it taught me alot about riding. I bought the superten and kept the KLR to use as my dirt beater. And then a funny thing happened... once I got armor on the SuperTen and some offroad rubber on it - I found that I could push the SuperTen every bit as hard as I could the KLR offroad. So I sold the KLR and picked up a WR250R that reestablished that performance gap offroad. Have nothing but great memories and respect for that KLR, but I could NEVER go back to it now.

My old 2001 KLR is still the reining champion of bikes I owned the longest. 5 years in the stable. Second place goes to 4 years with the DL1000 I enjoyed the KLR and loved the oversized dirtbike look of it. It was my street bike when I was heavily into my ATV phase of life. So after 5 years it only had 5K miles. Fun bike for what it was, but other than being big and heavy it shares little else with the Tenere.

I sold the s10 because it wasn't what I wanted in a bike.
Low ground clearance, a little too wide and a smushy suspension that costs way too much to upgrade were a few reasons.

I got a KLR and instantly i missed, smooth throttle, no vibrations, speed, the brakes, the hydraulic clutch, the clock and the fuel gauge LOL.

I'm waiting for a 600-800 CC version of the s10 and i'll definitely revisit this bike.

Who else sold and is a little home sick?
I thought this thread was about selling the S10 and feeling a little home sick. Looks like it turned into a KLR thread. That's ok. We just bought 2 KLR's (an 03 650 and a 1990 KLR 250) both are street legal and in really good condition. Now my son's and I can ride together with me being on my S10 of course.

Such is the nature of how conversations morph in our family. Sure wouldn't want to break any rules. Like rolling thru a stop sign. Or taking liberties with speed limits. Or not signaling a turn. Or getting off topic.
KLR thread? Heck, there's even mention of a XT660R which I wish was available in the U.S.

::025:: I really can appreciate that one... ...hey look, there's a chicken!

That was the most common phase used by all the riders in Baja. Conversation slowed, or not, and one of the group would make the exclamation, "Hey look, there's a chicken," to poke fun at how scattered all of us were. We really amused ourselves.

Back on topic. You have to figure there's only two or three former Tenere owners here. I'd like to think this hijack only served to keep a thread alive. ;D
