Hi,
Firstly thanks for letting me join.
I’m hoping to get my first S10 soon but have a dilemma.
I’ve seen 2 bikes ones a 2015 ES version, vgc, full dealer history, 28k etc but the curveball is I’ve also found a stunning 2010 first edition model that’s absolutely mint “as new” condition it’s just 6k miles, one owner all paperwork and history.
It’s also £500 more than the gen 2, 2015 plate model.
My head says 2015, my heart says the stunning 2010 model.
What do you all think?

2010 may need the clutch basket upgrade, has no cruise control, no heated grips, recalls on wiring harness come into play too.

2015 has electronic suspension, Gen 2 coolness (cruise control, heated grips, etc.).

I would not worry too much about the mileage. I have the ES and think its great. I wasnt looking for one but it came up at such a good price it was a no brainer. You dont think you will use the Cruise much but you do and the ES is so eady to use and you always have a good set up to go to. Only thing to think about is how heavy you are for the rear spring.

I tested an early 2011ish model 3years before taking a punt on a new pre-registered last of the uk bikes. Quite how I came to back to one I still don’t know, but so glad I did. The two bikes were chalk and cheese, apart from the aweful standard seat. Knowing a little more about them now I realise the first one probably had both the clutch basket and cct issues.

Wow, thanks for all the quick replies, what a great, helpful forum this is.
Also unanimously the 15 plate then!
I’m hoping to test ride it this week and go from there.
Thanks everyone, great help.

Dependent on your plans, if you want a bike to ride the 2015 is the answer but if you rarely ride and want a lovely bike to keep in the garage ( nothing wrong with that) then the 2o10 could be an investment.

i have a gen 1, had it 9 yrs when i bought it the gen 2 was out, i did not want electric suspension, cruise, don,t like the digital screen on the gen 2,
my bike has been brilliant, i still would not have a gen 2
most and i mean most have no issue with clutch basket, most and i mean most have no issue with cct, you can change that out at 25000 if you want to a manual for £150 like i did

just my own thoughts

Thanks guys.
I’m planning on test riding both bikes but as it’s going to be used predominantly for 2 up touring the 15 probably makes more sense.

Thanks Rob,
I’ve not actually viewed a gen 2 bike yet. Had a ride on a 13 plate gen 1 yesterday but it just wasn’t the right bike for me. Nothing to do with it being Gen 1 it just wasn’t in as good enough condition as I’d hoped for.
As I said, hopefully I’ll get to ride both this week and go from there.
