Had a nice little 4-day "Getaway" in southern Wyoming.
My Wife drove up with the Boys and the Dog, while I rode the bike up.
We stayed at "Woods Landing Resort" in one of their Cabins.
Was peaceful and quiet...........but lots and lots of mosquitos.
During the day, my wife took the kids and the dog Hiking and sightseeing, while I went out exploring the Snowy-Range and Sierra-Madre areas.
I rode lots of forest-roads, and parts of sections 1 and 2 of the WYBDR.
I honestly was expecting to run into more snow than I did...........
I did have to turn around a couple times because of a couple snow-drifts in the Forest, and once because of a huge mud-pond that had formed in the middle of the road (it extended off into the forest on both sides, and was larger than I wanted to attempt by myself)
We had perfect weather the whole time, and not a drop of rain the entire 4 days!
I did not ride the alternate "Bridger-Peak" section. There was still lots of snow up there.
One thing I will mention for anyone riding the WYBDR.
There are many countless Cattle-Guards that you cross when riding these roads. Most of them are comprised of 2 sections of Grating across the road that meet in the middle.
I saw a few of these where the two sections of Grate didn't quite butt up against each other, forming a gap in the middle of the road.
If you crossed these on a motorcycle right in the center of the road you would drop your front wheel into this gap, and most likely end up summersaulting over the bars.
Make sure you cross any Cattle-Guard you come to away from the center of the road, especially if you are riding in a group and trying to avoid each other's dust. Move to the left or right when riding over these.
