It still amazes me the healing power of riding. I rode to work. I had a crappy day at work, but the ride home was all I needed to relax. A mere 14 miles on the bike changed the whole outcome of the day.
In 2013 I had a goal to ride 333 days in the calendar year. Made 305 days, my brother getting married cost me 5, and some snow storms. But during that year my wife hated it when I had to take the cage. I was more agreeable coming home in 10 degree cold for a 20 minute ride that if I did not ride to work.

New Years Eve 2013 after caging it to work in Des Moines, Iowa.

While we're waiting for Snake to check in, here is how the Desert Challenge went for me. Added some character to the front rim of my DR650. Would you believe no pinch flat for any of those 3 separate hits? Was running 20 psi so that probably saved me. Finished the challenge on it and rode the entire next day even doing some high speed pavement without issue.

SilverBullet,

I'm bummed that we (the crazy Sante Fe-Alvin geezers) didn't hook up with ya! But it looks like you had a good time. (Bent rims always come with a good story. And a Good story is proof of ADVenture)

Sure looks like it. And he did say it was 3 separate hits.

I was running TUBLiss system and aired down lower than he was. And I THOUGHT I had hit hard enough to bend a rim a bunch of times. But alas, no bends.
Not sure what brand of rims are OEM on the EXC, but they take a beating.

Big Bend Rocks! Literally. 8)

Guess I have to quit reading the forum while at work on Boring conference calls. Miss major details. I did see the picture, but missed the text!

(Probably not going to happen since the calls are boring!)

This is from last week. Rode in the Inidian Reservations west of Broward and Palm Beach counties. At 4:09, you can see why everyone on this forum will tell you to Loctite the screws on the OEM tumblers. Putting the entire lock assembly back together on the OEM Top case was the worst 2 hour span of time I've so far had this year.

Today I did another geocache series. This one was called Ghost Train and was on an abandon rail line that ran between Drumbo and Bright. Most rail trails around here are for non motorized activities but this one was okay for atvs etc. The trail threw a few new things at me that I haven't done on the Tenere like the small tree across the trail. The bike went over it easily as long as you attack it. Had a great ride...again!!

I also passed a few gas stations to see if I could make it back home. This added to the adventure. I had 65 km on the reserve portion for a total of 350km. It took 21 litres to fill so I guess I still could have gone another 15 or 20 kilometers. Good to know for another time.

Last 2 photos are from Cannon County Walking Horse Association campground. Used to go ride there a lot in my younger days. Had many great memories made there.

Not a bad way to spend a Friday. Beats a trip to the dentist for sure.

The DR 650 ran great. Mix of gravel, dirt, and paved today for about 200 miles worth. Had a blast. ::008::

Just back from a 6 day ride through Colorado and New Mexico. No photos because I was the designated guide for a group of 9 riders; it just got too hard to pull over for photo ops with that many bikes. We rode the Enchanted Circle, the Highway of Legends and a number of other great roads. I was really bummed about the inability to take photos. You know you are in a scenic location when you ride past a pull-off and you see 2-3 artists with their easels capturing the scene.

As a guide, you just guide everybody into the overlook. They can like it or lump it.
