::026:: to the Vstrom 1000 being a wheelie machine. The ST will wheelie, but depending on what tires you got, it may just do a sweet slide/burn out.Dirt_Dad said:Personally I don't find the S10 to be my favorite wheelie bike. My old DL1000 was a much more willing partner for lofting the front end. With the S10 I usually limit the wheelies to riding off the back side of a hump in the road, that does still give me a smile. Wheelies get shut down very quickly in TCS2. If I know a road will provide good little hills I stop and turn off TCS.
Even with the TCS off most of my S10 wheelies look like the ones at the :42 mark in this video. Nothing overly exciting.
Ride with Drift HD170
LOL!! No, I'm sure the "unretouched" photos of your ass are disturbing enough.pluric said:photoshop my ass.....
::026:: This is a real wheelie machine... Really freaks people out when you wheelie going across an intersection when you hit the crown of the intersection and the front wheel comes up....Typhon said:+1 ::008::
This is the wheelie thread not ED.True Grip said:I have no problem getting it up just can't keep it up for long.
Signs of old age :'(
Hard to have one without the other. ::025::pluric said:This is the wheelie thread not ED.
Awesome, brother, simply awesome! Ha ha, espec the one in street shoes - ha ha...pluric said:TC off S mode. Unless you have the 2nd gen reflash. Be more careful then. ???
Test drove a VTR down in the Bay Area once. Brought back to the dealer with a massive grin on my face after about 10 miles and 20 effing full-on wheelies and told him no thanks... I would kill myself on it. It was so awesome though.snakebitten said:But before anyone thinks I have some great talent at riding on 1 wheel, they should realize that certain bikes require little. Have you ever ridden a VTR Honda?
Man. I had an FZ750 back in the day. What a motor, but the brakes, good lord. you had to throw the anchor out, and hope to god, she caught something.Ticeman2 said:Got to have the wheelies. Even Gold Wings will wheelie. BMW K1600GTL's with the TC off are a blast to wheelie. Greg the Pole mentioned the 900RR, he ain't kiddin, one of the all time best. Yamaha R1 one of my favorites. BUT....I have 2 best, 1 single cylinder, one multicylinder, XT500 and FZ750 (although the FZ is far from stock). The XT, I had to find a way to drain the oil back into the oil tank from the airbox because after a couple miles it would fill the airbox and kill the engine. Good for the mosquito population in the area, not so good for long wheelies.
I have a fix for the FZ brakes! And forks. And rear suspension. For the forks: 1991 FZR1000 forks and wheel. For the brakes: full floating, 320mm, iron brake rotors, prototype Sumitomo, sandcast, differential bores, 6 piston calipers with 6 individual pads, with #2 braided Kevlar hoses. The rear suspension: I have 2 set-ups. Straight-line which is a R1 arm and wheel assembly with some custom linkage and fitment (4" over stock length), and for the turns is a FZR1000W (1989) swingarm with an Ohlins shock that is ride-height adjustable (1"under stock length, which makes it worse than a CBR900RR for wheelies, it will start wheelies in 4th with no pull on the bars). I love this old barge.greg the pole said:Man. I had an FZ750 back in the day. What a motor, but the brakes, good lord. you had to throw the anchor out, and hope to god, she caught something.
btw...sold the rr last week :'(
but it needed to go. Meantime between time, get on the vfr power band, clutch, and fun.
geez...I thought my 900rr with 954 front end, cbr 1000 rim, and a vfr 750 sssa was a tasty build.Ticeman2 said:I have a fix for the FZ brakes! And forks. And rear suspension. We did a BMW F800GS into a Rally bike about a year ago, he traded it back to us for one of the new water heads. The F800 is loaded with really cool stuff. Twin chamber Ohlins fork internals, Ohlins rear shock, I made all new brake lines front and rear, new front fender, fork guards, all kinds of custom goodies. I wish it wouldn't have come back! I now have a terrible case of the wants.greg the pole said:Best get on a new project real soon....oh ya, i'm going to go look at a 2008 DL 650 ABS with heavy front end damage. Will most likely need forks, rim, all new plastics (or make it a naked gravel blaster)...the possibilities.
Buddy of mine put in xr400 forks on his 650 dl, with a stock suzuki rim, loves the setup... ok breathe, need to buy the bike first.. then do a proper road map for the bike.
