Today I had the best of both worlds. My 33 year old son had the itch to ride after about a year of no bike himself and jumping out of perfectly good airplanes. So what's a dad to do ?
We took off with him on my 2004 FJR and I on the Tenny. Many twisties in southeast Indiana and we switched at the halfway point. This would be the first time for him on the Tenny. He is an skilled FZ1 rider and had the pegs on his past bike worn nearly off.
He liked the Tenny as he could stand up on it . We had a great day bonding and I got to see both my bikes in action.
This was a good day !!

Broke 10,000 in the dirt somewhere between Fiddletown and Amador City. 231 on the tank, 4.7 to fill, 49mpg. Not my normal pace, but it looks real good. ::025::

I installed my new Pazzo levers and fork preload adjusters this morning. (Thx Jaxon!). The OEM levers migrated to my tool kit as crash replacements. The group ride I was planning on was canceled because of rain. Lame. After watching the MotoGP race, I headed for the Gorge without much of a plan. I got back home after 225 miles with a big grin. Even with a little rain I had a great time.
Yesterday, I picked up a new tent, Marmot Limelight 3. It packed into a stuff sack and fits perfectly into the smaller of my panniers. I also picked up a new cookset and a rebuild kit for my MSR Whisperlite International. It's only been over a decade since I rebuilt it. ;) Throw in some other little crap like new running shoes for the woman and there goes another $500 at REI! I guess we'll be getting a healthy dividend check next year.

I had my 40,000k service done. ::001::

The shims were checked and were all even but at the lower limits allowed. Aparently a real bugger of a job checking them let alone when it comes time to remove the cams to change them out! ::010::

My final drive has been leaking for a while so I just did the old feeler gauge trick to see if that helps.

The clutch switch mod has been the best thing I've done to it for a long time! Sweet! ::008::

Oh well, ::021::

Cheers,
Dave.

40,000K? Dayum mate, you've been busy! Congrat's on that. I'm not looking forward to to checking the valves when that time finally comes. :-\

Sadly it's not What did I do with my Tenere today it's what I didn't do. Was supposed to meet Bigblue and ride a 250 mile route of twisty (Florida Twisty) and miles of unpaved roads. Go out to my garage and low and behold. I have a flat. I find the offending hole and it's to much to plug :'( Last Thursday I ordered a set of K60 scouts from revzilla, hope they get here soon.

So what is that in your tire that caused all that damage?

What tyres are they? Looking great there.

I put a Givi Screen on ready for the Brit Butt Rally this weekend. 36 hours behind the Vario was not an option. The Givi seems to be do a far better job of keeping the wind off. Just need to adjust the mounting to the lower wholes and re- positin the sat nav....................... will this never end ::008::

I packed my Tenere today - well sort of. More of a "dry run" to see if everything fit for the Whitehorse trip.
