Sure coastie, first off,i'm 6'3"And the Rox Risers made my lower & upper back & neck so sore that i couldnt ride more than 25 miles ::007::, i would be in so much pain,i couldnt ever turn my head ::007::, And my back & shoulders fely like i was getting poked with hot knives.
Funny how ergonomics work. This is EXACTLY what I experienced on my VFR no matter what I tried. Loved that bike but couldn't dial in the riding position for anything, and I spent a ton of money trying to make it work. When I first got the Tenere I would start feeling the same thing, after about two hours, but once it started there was no stopping it no matter how long of a break I took.

Rotated the bars in the stock clamp toward me the tiniest bit, and now I can ride all day without those stabbing pains. Sometimes even the slightest adjustment can make a HUGE difference...

Absolutely true. Changing the raised fork tubes from 15mm to 13.7mm in the triple clamp on my wife's lowered Tenere made a big difference in steering speed. Really... 1.3mm makes a difference? Shockingly, yes!

Add some offset Rox Risers. Now my butt lines up with the new seat I picked up last weekend. ::018::
Any issues with the brake lines or wiring?

Hmmm, I'm 6'2" and I was leaning way to far forward in the stock orientation, getting exactly your results. 2" rise and a little pull back and all is good. I can even stand on the pegs without leaning over the windshield. LOL, I must have shorter arms than you.

When I put 30mm risers on I had to move the reroute the brake line but it was long enough, barely.

Did the 12K mile service on the wife's Tenere. Spark plugs were a more involved job than other bikes.

Not hard, but definitely took longer and required more patience than other bikes I've had in the past. I think this is the first time I've seen the S10 take more maintenance effort than the DL1000. Up until this task the S10 was always easier.

Did an apples to apples comparison of the K60 to the Anakee II on dirt road with a fresh load of gravel put down (think super slippery). Actually the test was a little unfair. My wife's bike has Anakee's with 5K miles on the rear, and my bike had a K60 with less than 2K. After riding exactly the same course back to back I can say without any doubt there is absolutely no difference between the two tires in this particular condition. Both bikes were power sliding like never before. I was pleasantly surprised at just how far out TCS2 would allow me to bring the rear end. I could tell no difference at all. This is not a shocking result. I expect the K60 to outperform the Anakee in softer stuff and not the hard slippery...so I guess there's really no story here.

Finally, compared my wife's 12K mile S10 to my 4K mile S10. No question my bike has come a long way in improving over the last 3K since I last did a back to back ride. But even at 4K the bike does not hold a candle to the 12K bike in suspension smoothness and flat out power. The 12K bike is still head and shoulders above the 4K bike. Getting better, but a long way to go.

Well actually it's been a couple days, but only took pics today.
Installed Baja Lights from Jaxon. These lights are fantastic. @ 3 hours total for the install.
AltRider Skid Plate. @ 3 hours
Installed tail pack. 3 hours total including painting to match the S10. Anyone know where I can get some small Yamaha stripes decals that might fit on this pack?
Installed Garmin 478 GPS with GXM antenna for XM radio. Using Touratech mount. 3 hours total including making custom brackets to allow the Touratech mount to locate on the Handlebar clamps.

Nocite that all my farkles take 3 hours?

Still want to replace the turn signals and add a headlight guard.

I had to turn around and go back to pick up a missing top case. It feel off the bike somewhere along the dirt road I was on that was full of washboards. The bike mounting plate cracked in half from the vibration I assume. It was a Small Givi and it was empty. I just put it on a week ago so the wife could have a backrest if she goes along. Lucky she wasn't with me. She may have departed too. I'm going to look into alternative back rests. The case is toast. :'(

Installed Jaxon's mega-bright BD Squadron LED lights. Love how these things turn night to day!

Also installed the OEM accessory headlight guard.

Went for a night ride to test the lights, and it's so much easier on the eyes. So confidence inspiring to have gobs of white light in front of you on unlit roads.

The tailpack is from Axio. I think they may have stopped making it.
I got mine from Twigg Cycles, found it on ebay.
They have a "Yamaha Blue" but it is not the same blue as the Super Tenere. It it much darker. I painted the bag to match the S10.

Been dragging my feet on replacing the spark plugs (I'm at 13,700 miles). So pulled them today and replaced. Pretty tough to get to the coils and they had long 10mm bolts holding them down which I was able to get my 1/4" drive socket with universal joint on 3 of them. The 4th (far right) had to use a 12 point box wrench. The bolts are long so took a while. IIRC the 1050 Tiger you just pull the coils out, no bolts holding them down.

Old plugs looked fine, and nice tan/gray color.

Blew out the air filter while I had it off, but it was pretty clean.

I pulled the 3/8" thick rubber grommet out at the top of my windscreen mounts and left the bottoms in, so canted the screen back slightly.

John, it looks like you're running the Leo Vince exhaust w/ no exhaust shield. 2 questions: 1) How do you like the LV Exhaust? Mine's on order. 2) How is it running without the shield? Any heat or leg burning?

Today i learned a lesson, as a dirt noob never ride alone because it might turn from a smooth ride to push that f***ing heavy pig within seconds ;D

So i thought it would be cool to ride into the forrest on some kind of path from a harvesting machine, its called a dual sport so it is destinied to go there :D

At first it was nice, the S10 makes that just sooo easy, even for a beginner like me that only has theoretical knowledege how to ride a bike in the dirt. But then a mudhole was coming up and smart as i am i knew that i better turn around. And this is the point where i messed up, i tried to turn around an land with the front wheel next to the path and the rear wheel in one of tracks from the harvesting machine. Since i could not go forward i tried pushing it backwards, sweating, swearing, cursing.

Well that obviously didn't work, so i assessed my situation an made a break. After thinking it through i used some wood that was lying around to dig a path for my rear wheel and then continued with pushing, sweating and swearing :)

The whole thing did take my something like half an hour, but after i was free at last it felt great, didn't drop it and got out by myself ::015:: ::018::

And yes i know, the experienced guys here would ride a goldwing with a pillon out of so such a situation without breaking a sweat, but for me it was a real achievement ;D
First off ballheadknuckle, I'm still giggling from you screen name and .............. been there done that. As far as us experienced dirt riders, I personally wouldn't have attempted that trail without a NOBBY! This bike is too damn heavy for muddy ruts on street tires. My Battlewing streets spin in wet grass so I feel sand and gravel is as far as I will take them, Sounds like you are getting the adventure bug. You can get a nice hybrid and still hit the trails alone. I'm saving up for them myself. Happy off roading dude!
