Valve clearance check, first one - 51000km - all in the middle of range.
Throttle body sync - not far out. ECU didn't like it , ABS, TCS, and engine fault lights came up. Mechanic eventually cleared them.
Installed new Iridium spark plugs and replaced the foam airfilter pods.

Bike is 2016 so these were probably the originals. The inner core of the filter crumbled when touched with fingers.

Did the O ring trick with the ignition coils. Bike has a longer front mudguard so water in the coils probably isn't an issue
but a cheap prophylactic.

Put her on the center stand. Grab some nuts/bolts and put them in a can. Get in the saddle. Start making motor sounds while you're shaking the can and lean to the left and right. Just like the real thing.

Rainy day maintenance.
I did something to the 2012 that I have never done before. While having the swingarm off to lube all the linkage, I removed the U-Joint and took it apart and greased it. It felt fine and was fine but now I know it's condition and it's good for another few thousand.

Are you talking about the driveshaft U joint ? Surprised to hear it’s made to take apart, the U joint on Goldwing isn’t , when it fails you replace the entire driveshaft but because of so many trike conversions they are available cheap.

Are you talking about the driveshaft U joint ? Surprised to hear it’s made to take apart, the U joint on Goldwing isn’t , when it fails you replace the entire driveshaft but because of so many trike conversions they are available cheap.

It has 4 removable clips, not very hard to do but also not very necessary either.

I keep a record book but it's not all that interesting. Lots of oil changes, tires, no major work. Engine has never been apart except for quick covers.

Sounds like my bikes. I keep records of every dollar spent on every bike & car.
No confusion when it comes to knowing when things are done

Yesterday received and mounted my Mosko Moto Back Country Panniers. The mounting plates to my rack were easy and quick. However, installing the external pockets was a total PIA. A combination of the bags being compressed, rigidity due to being new and needing three hands to get the mounting screw in resulted in some choice words at times I ended up enlisting my wife's help and that got them done.

The quality of the bags is fantastic. The small features built into them is very cool and I have no doubt these bags will last a very long time. I was also lucky to catch their sale over Thanksgiving weekend where I got them for $825 instead of the regular $1150 price. Here are a few pics.

Finished AZ prep maintenance. All fluids replaced. New rear Trailmax Mission and clutch master seals. Today was fork oil and steering bearings. Fork oil was 18 mo and 20k mi. Pretty funky. Need to move this to annual schedule.

Steering has been smooth. Repacked. Some funk at the top cleaned up easily. Bottom looked like new.
