Changed the diff oil yesterday, more Motul FS. Last lot was in for around 9k miles, came out pretty clean. As always, a little bit of swarf on the plug.

Now the garage stinks!

Ever since I heard someone say that you can get the side covers off with the T-Rex bars, I’d been itching to get them. Big expense for a little convenience since postage was around US$450 which was my own fault. Cost projection early on was that they’d cost $x to send at a certain weight and’s, with the package being 33 lbs, I thought that in halving it, it would come in cheaper.
Nope.
They took almost no time at all to fit & the bonus is that if I ever had BMW envy, this brings things a lot closer to that

The old ones had definitely proven themselves in a fall with no damage to the bike at all. Of course, the intention is to not tip it over - especially from something dumb like bouncing it off the side stand when coming off the centre stand.
I also fitted the variable length T-Rex side stand just to give it that little bit extra lean.
Much happier with how it sits when parked now.

Took a ride out to Granger Dam and when I left home it was cloudy but once I got to Granger Dam and headed further East from there the fog got so thick I couldn't see a 100 yards in front of me. Whole front of my bike got wet from riding through the fog. Snapped a few pics near the boat ramp.

You can see the fog ahead, the buildings ahead are barely visible.

What is this curved windshield and does it come with the two front black plastic bars ? Thanks
There was also an extender that was on top of the screen but it rolled off the stand one day as I was getting back to it from closing the gate.
I caught the bike but the fence caught the top screen & broke it, so it I took it off until I can get around to replacing it.

What does out of spec “true” cause? Does it lead to a front wheel feeling like a wheel out of balance? How is “true” achieved? Is it by tightening and loosening spokes in order to re-align the wheel within itself?
This might be something I’ll need doing over the winter months, as I have an odd front wheel wobble/shake feeling. Had it balanced and rebalanced, had new wheel bearings and fairly recently did the head bearings, so it’s unlikely any of those.

Wheel rebuilding and trueing is something I have no knowledge of, any help/tips/insight is much appreciated.

TIA
Boris
Sorry I did not respond earlier. Excess lateral run-out is side to side movement of the rim. It is corrected by pulling the rim back into alignment by loosening spokes on one side and tightening on the other. Since the spokens are cross laced you have to recognize the direction of pull and adjust accordingly. I worked the two pairs on either side of the "out" spot. You need a wheel stand and a measurement tool, although you could do a quick check on the centerstand with the front wheel elevated and a screwdriver or punch held against the forks.

I made slow incremental changes. Just tweeking it a little bit at a time. I rechecked all spoke torques in the end.

Today's long ride was SO much smoother. No shakes. At speed, if you lay your hand on the handlebars with fingers extended, they were very steady. Before they would shake a lot. The other thing I noticed today was less vibration in the mirrors. Much clearer rear view.
