re wrapped the seat with seat concepts foam and cover - seems stiffer than stock - not sure if it's gonna be a big improvement or not and test ride is gonna have to wait as the weather here is sukkin right now

initial thoughts? up, stiffer than oem - also, you would think that they could allow an extra 1/4" or so of material so you have more to hang on to when installing the thing (hands are killin me today)

I put air in my front tire today. Its been sitting in my shop since November and I thought it would be a good idea.
Going to have to look into that slow leak before my start of season riding, from what I recall my front wheel would be flat by the third day last year..LOL
In the mean time back on prepping the sled for a last go next week.

What brand of tire are you running?
Mitas, EO7 Dakars. I think when I installed it I just didn't get a good seal on the rim. Then I was just too lazy to fix it.
So going to break the bead and try again. When I did it, it went on real easy, popped on real good but I guess it didn't seal.
I did check the schrader couple times and doesn't appear to leak.

The fronts all lose air. I air them up every week, and have done so since new.

There have been reports of some Mitas tires leaking past the beads.

Thanks guys
I'll double check before doing anything. Check the bead and schrader again. It might be the way it is on these, the rear is ok no issues.
The original Battle wings never leaked.

I had a slow leak on my Versys rear tyre, not lots but noticeable. I put a new tyre on and it continued. I removed the tyre and ran a very light sandpaper over the rim and put the tyre back on. problem went away and never returned.

1st (pre-service) wash
10,000km Factory scheduled service (NZD$280 @ MCR here in Dunedin) I'm doing the 5000km 'in beween' service myself
Fitted new karoo street front (German) 10 grams to balance
Fitted new tourance rear (Chinese) 30 grams to balance
OE bridgestones great tyres, rear beginning to square but they woulda gone to 15,000km easy
Air filter element looked like new...after probably 2000? kms of gravel

Have now got the bike set up right for me...givi skid plate/ crashbars/ pannier racks, pivot pegs, toolbox, tickle charger, tank grip pads made outta skateboard deck tape, daytime running lights.

So...thoughts after 4 months ownership and 10,000km?

Very happy consumer. Great long range tourer (my single day PB is 1000km/ 13hrs). Not bad on gravel but a big heavy bike for the technical stuff. Plenty of power, loving the suspension, cruise control, comfy seat, good windscreen, linked ABS system works well in gravel. Un-obtrusive traction control. Bike is super stable and predictable at highway speeds.

And i don't have to mess about with chain cleaning after every ride!

Looking forward to many more K's on this bike.

Mark.
