It's definitely wider which is what I was after, I am not so sure about lower, if it is, the extra width puts your reach to the ground back where it was before.
As you already have had a Sargent seat, I don't need to tell you it is hard so you feel road bumps more, but against that, the support is very good. Mine is currently shiny so when I rode to work on Saturday in the pouring rain in full textile trousers, any braking was sending me up the seat, my backside lacked grip. I have had this before on a Corbin on my Varadero, and it sort of cured itself over time, I think I have a bum like sandpaper as grip gradually got better.
