Do you have a "why" for the failure on one side only. I would assume uneven load, but that seems pretty extreme. What do you think?. . . . My suggestion is change that bearing out about every 30-40k miles. It’s easy to do and cost $20. . . .
I put everything i took off in a box this morning and jumped on the incredibly accurate bathroom scale and it weighed 10 pounds ( rear seat ,passenger pegs, muffler cover) and 2Bros says their muffler weighs 8 pounds less than stock, my new rack and brackets probably weigh a couple of pounds , so I might have saved 16 pounds or so.Did you figure out a total weight savings? Looks great for 1 up.
$20.63 per pound, the 2 bros muffler cost $330.00 (It is worth a million dollars in grin factor every time I twist the throttle) and all the other aluminum and steel for rack and brackets was stuff I got for free and the machining I did at work for free.Didnt really do it for weight savings , more for looks ,performance and sound. What does that come out dollar per pound?

Drive Mode Dashboard is a great app. Dashboard, trip log, roadbook, map, all wrapped up in one app. Check it out. There is a thread over on ADV Rider forum. Drive Mode Dashboard The developer has been great at listening to users and making updates. There is also DMD2 which is the newer version. I haven't really looked into that one.PainLander, it looks good the app as Drive Master Mode 1, will be very interesting to see your experience using it! What is the deal with wheel bearings these days?! I cant keep a set in either of my HDs also.... Never used to have an issue with bearings. Seems like the only time I replaced wheel bearings in my older bikes was powder coating wheels. Now it seems Im replacing em every other tire change.Service notice: Ha-ha
I bought in a set of wheel bearings to change for preventive measures. (winter strip down of the whole bike)
Last night had the rear wheel / swing arm off and got to the point of looking at the rear bearings. I have the bearings and moving on to change them out. The non-side drive was crunchy. It has divots (feeling) in that bearing. WOW, not good. The drive seems to be “OK”
Lucky that sucker didn’t blow up. A friend had this same bearing blow up while deep in the woods of Arkansas a few months ago. That ‘ordeal’ cost him about $1000 after it was said and done fixing it.
My suggestion is change that bearing out about every 30-40k miles. It’s easy to do and cost $20
It’s the non-drive side on the rear wheel. (Brake side). If you are stubborn and don’t fix parts unless they are broken, please keep a close eye on this bearing. My good friend that has 115K on his Tenere, is on his third (#3) bearing. First: blew up and turned to dust. Second: was really crunchy and crusty (about to fail). Third: failed a few months ago in Arkansas. They are averaging 38-40K miles on that one bearing.
I’ve checked all other surrounding parts. Everything is in spec.
Just another friendly reminder to please keep an eye on this wheel bearing. Might strand you and cost you over $1000 to fix.
$20 sounds like a good idea. LOL
#3 seems to be the issue.

Is it not possible for Yamaha to use the same bearing for both sides? Why are they different?
