It has been raining here so i put new tape over the key slots on my gas cap and ignition switch. that helps keep moisture out. It is fixing to drop into the teens and low 20's here. I have a lot of trouble with my key switch freezing on if there is any moisture there. You should see me giving the ignition switch mouth to mouth to get the bike turned off when i get to work. haha.

Today i fired up my car after nearly a year in storage. Been on work from home lockdown all year so i used the bike for everything. Had to move the bike to the back of the garage. :-(

Its a toyota so I started like it had only been sitting a week. I almost missed it. It has a real smooth 6 speed manual gearbox (the same one used in the manual mazda 6).

Ill miss the bike while it’s hibernating. I have some winter mods planned for the downtime which i will surely share once completed.

I try to ride everywhere I go, I have been doing so since 15 years old. 60 now and 45 degrees is my comfort threshold these days. I can’t imagine freezing ignition key. Living in Texas not to much freezing here when it does I just take the truck. You guys like @cyclemike4 are tuff !

Picked up the 2nd hand Akro and fitted today then took it for a quick spin, bike seems smoother and decel not so harsh ? My mate also gave me an aftermarket seat from the USA to try out.View attachment 75021
Looks like a Saddlemen Adventure Track seat. I can speak to the Adventure Tour Solo seat, it's the most comfortable saddle I've owned thus far and I have had three for the tenere, including stock. That one's center channel seems really aggressive, maybe because it's a "Track" seat. Let us know how it turns out.

Thanks for that elricfate, initial thoughts for the moment that it is much firmer than stock but more supportive, yes i'll let you know after a few thousand kms how it is.
Cheers :)

Merry Christmas all,
I have spent the last week or so making a back pack rack ,designed it in CAD and cut it out on my cnc router at work, a friend of mine powder coated it. I also stripped off the passenger footpegs and added a Two Brothers M2 black aluminum muffler. Cant say enough about the M2 the bike sounds like a proper motorcycle now and is much peppier and smoother, not too loud but has a nice bark. M2 cost 330.00 from cycle gear, just couldnt see spending 500.00 for the Yosh or 800.00 for the Acropovic. I am setting this bike up for the dirt so I wanted the aluminum body cause it will be dropped eventually and I didnt want to destroy some beautiful carbon fiber piece. Next project will be a decent skid plate and some crash bars, get rid of the cat and reflash, and a Graves manual timing chain tensioner.
Have a happy holiday

Но это, скорее всего, из-за песков КарелииIMG_20201226_140610.jpgIMG_20201226_155032.jpgIMG_20201226_145602.jpgIMG_20201226_145534.jpg

Google translate makes this out of it:

The shock absorber was removed in total 100,500 times. Indeed, in August I took it off 4 times and staged that much. But it still doesn't work as it should. I'm taking you to another repair! And it was a surprise that I missed the progression benchmarks in August. And then I looked, there was not grease, but plasticine. But this is most likely due to the sands of Karelia.

:D:D It think it’s funny but not really an idea what you are trying to say sorry.

In short: you regreased it and now it’s oké?

Stefan.

It remained to be taken for repair. If they do not, then the price of the issue is $ 2000

And the cause of this all is seized bearings in the link-system? Because of sand that came in?
And if they can’t repair it the whole link-system needs replacement??

the only wear I see is a little on the third picture, but that’s on the housing.

No! The bearing, ideally, did not understand why the grease was acidic. Water should not have gotten, sand too. Perhaps this is due to the Yamaha motor boat bearing grease. And my omort started flowing in the summer, but the warranty ended

The yellow material is a type of solid grease, it is not caused by intrusion of dirt or sand.
This is how they come from the factory. Perfectly fine to apply conventional grease on top of this, but no need to remove the yellow material.

Solid grease will not wash out and greatly extends bearing life. Do not remove it.

I have already washed away
Is there one on sale?
I do not believe you can buy it or apply it yourself.
It is used by many bearing makers where washout is a problem. It being a solid grease it fills voids and will not washout.

You are not the first to remove it. I wouldn't be too concerned, you will just need to grease the linkage more often.
I just wanted to let you know what this product is and it's purpose.
