I love that loop except starting out in Bako. Just about every ride I do starts with riding to Kernville. The Kern River Canyon would easily be one of the best roads for any motorcyclist, and it's just the beginning of a regular ride for a lucky few of us. ::013:: ::015:: ::013::

Feeling old here cause I did 330 miles on Sunday and it kicked my butt.
But it was up the 395 thru Kennedy Meadows to Kernville and back home.
Kinda new at the map stuff but this was the trip.

Like the name. ::025::
If you're ever heading up to Frazier let me know.

Most days I let the bike decide which direction to go. :D

Left here at 6000' and 45°, 10 miles later downhill it was 70°. By the time we got to Mojave an hour later it was 95°. Kennedy Meadows at 6000' was pleasant at about 80°. Hit the top of the mountain at 9000' and it was great about 60° and a nice breeze.
But then dropped down into Bako and it was 95° till I got home to a pleasant 80°.
The heat drains me and the changes in temps were pretty wild.
Looking forward to cooler temps. :)

Did a 400 km loop up to Limestone Mt. in Alberta. Views are supposed to be fantastic. When I was very near the top, I entered the clouds as they were rolling across the top. Fun to watch, but didn't help my view any.

Tenere did very well through the rock garden though.

Better pics later, but tonight I installed my new Parabellum 27" extra tall and tinted windscreen... Soooooooo much better than stock. Heck, it's the perfect windscreen for me in both function (perfect bubble of smooth air, face shield up at 80+mph) and form! (I love the look of a giant windscreen/fairing on some bikes, S10 included!)

Big screen!

Stock comparo...

Exposed the new bike to rain for the very first time.
Apologies to Steve (W4ARF) after he took such good care of it!

Got a Metzler Tourance Next rear tire installed. Toying with doing a 1,000 mile ride with some friends next week, and my rear tire needed replacement beforehand.

Got 7,800 miles out of the Tourance EXP rear that was installed last.

Fitted the MRA Vario Touring screen which the courier delivered just after lunch time today. Went for a 60 mile cruise just to try out the various screen settings possible, of which there are quite a few available, as it's mounted on a TT bracket.

I've managed to eliminate the annoying buffeting the top of my head was getting from the stock screen when I wore my Shoei Neotec. When I wore my Arai Tour-X 4 I didn't get the buffeting. Now with the MRA set up, both helmets are good to go ::015::

(I'm 5' 10" tall, 29" inseam)

Shame about the clouds. Can you ride all the way to the summit? I have to put that on my 'To Do' list. ;-)

I noticed the rear brake fluid level was a little low. So I topped it off. I was surprised at how dark the fluid is after only 1 yr and 9500 miles. The front is very dark as well. May be time to change it out. Also found a nail in my rear tire. ::010::

Be careful topping off the brake fluid, it is a hydraulic system, only time it should need more would be a leak or change. The fluid level dropping indicates pad wear. When you replace the pads there will be too much fluid and it will have to be removed.

Five days, four states and 2300 miles. The only down side riding with Harleys ::) (way too slow) ::021::
