For the first time in 5 weeks since I bust my knee I have been able to actually ride the damn thing ! I did over 150 miles today, mostly on little backroads in Northumberland and was out for over 5 hours. I even got to try out my iffy German on three German bikers I met in Rothbury who were heading up to Scotland for a week. I then hit a seagull at around 70mph and it was like being in the biggest pillow fight ever ! I guess I must have caught it on the engine bar as nothing is out of place on the bike but what an amount of feathers. It's good to be back in the saddle again, roll on Friday for a Euro trip ::008::

Oil, filter, lubed the shifter, adjusted the throttle cables. Replaced burned out headlight bulb. Wired in a new Powerlet outlet into my tank bag.

I rewired the driving lights. Previous owner had the relay driven directly form the battery through a switch. So one could forget to switch off the spots and come back to a dead bike.

And of course , last week that is exactly what happened, I forgot the switch and came back to a very dead bike.

So today , rewired the switch so it gets power from the ignition feed on the axillary plug. Now , when the ignition goes off , the lights go off as well.

went for a ride, Alberta 40,
into the mountains, avoided the rain,
saw a moose mama with a little one, took some pics,
saw two grizzly bears, took some pics,
saw bighorn sheep, took some video,
saw a black bear about to cross in front of me, grabbed a lot of brake, quickly,
saw four deer, two were running parallel to the road, Super Tenere is faster,
rode home.....

Got a screamin' deal on 2" Rox risers

WOW!!! Why did I wait so long!!

Just wondering: what makes them so good? Or, what is the biggest improvement?

Can you share the deal? 2012-13 or 2014-15?
For my 2012 but not a retail purchase - bought them used off another rider who I met at the local weekly ADV gatherings at one of the breweries here in town. No web browsing, dibs, paypal, shipping, or whatever - just a person-to-person transaction. They are basically brand new having been on his BMW 1200GSA for maybe a few months.

Pure ergo bliss. I am 6'5" with lotsa upper body length. These brought my arms up and back a good bit to be more comfortable and also have made the bike way more centered for me while standing on the pegs in rough terrain. I have had the risers on my WRR forever and cannot fathom why I waited so long to get a set for Fancy. Now I am gonna keep a lookout for a good deal on a used set of Fasstco Flexx handlebars to complete the project. After checking out Snake's setup at Romney, I am itching to get a set before my big XC trip on the TAT.

Rode a 65 mile night ride to check headlight height.

Changed engine oil & filter and final drive fluid.

Adjusted / lowered the shifter.

Got really pissed off with the way my waterproof iPhone case was mounted on my Tenere. Having it sitting between the handlebar clamps looked cluttered and to be frank, more than a bit naff. I dug out my box of scrap metal offcuts to see what I could use to make a mount that would place it above the instrument console. I worked out quite a simple design and eventually got working on it. After three evenings in my shed, happily sawing, grinding, filing and painting, I eventually came up with this. It's not Touratec, I know but all it cost me was time, half a tin of spray paint and some effort. As it's made from 4, 2mm thick stainless sheet offcuts, a strip of 5mm thick aluminium, three nuts, five bolts and two thumbwheels, it weighs very little too. ::008::

Went to the hardware store and bought some rubber washers... to space the windshield forward. The rubber washers are 11/16" diameter x 1/8" thick with a 3/8" hole in the middle.

Using different washers I had spaced the windshield on my 2012 Tenere and that made improvements with managing the air buffeting.

The 2015 (Gen2) Tenere windshield is different than the Gen1 windshield. The Gen2 has a windshield bracket that can be easily spaced.

2015 OEM Windshield: first I spaced the upper part of the windshield with one washer under each upper mount. That worked well. Today I added another washer to the same upper mounts. This pushes the windshield further forward. To install two washers on each side of the bracket... you must push the well nut toward the windshield bracket bolt while pushing and turning the windshield bracket bolt.

This mod can be done for $3ish. If it works you are way ahead dollar and weight wise. If it doesn't work... you have four faucet washers for future use and you get to spend more than $100.

Haven't ridden it yet but will tonight or tomorrow morning.

Ah! thank you for posting that! I broke mine yesterday after 4 years (had it on my WeeStrom before the S10) and for the life of me could bot remember what it was called. Ordering one right now. These things are just fantastic and IMHO blow doors on Kaoko's and Cramp Busters (I have a Kaokoon the S10 but use this instead and the cramp buster is no Go Cruise) and other solutions. So damn easy and so damn cheap. Thank you thank you thank you!
