Rode some. Into the mountains. Saw bighorn sheep and buffalo and deer. Only saw one other motorcycle and that was in the city. Sun was out, heated grips were on, zero wind and the roads were dry, so who cares how much snow is in the ditch?

New boots.

First impressions are more then positive. Compared to E09 this tire corners like a slick. Vibes and vining are part of the history.
Next test will be on the wet tarmac, where E09 was rubbish.
No offroad yet...

Great boots on those feet ::012::

Installed a new clutch basket. To those on the fence with this one, JUMP. Bike is super smooth.

E07s are on my short list. When I had K60s, I liked the added security of a 50/50 tire when I went off road. I also like that the Mitas has no center strip. Further, I kinda miss sounding like a dump truck while on pavement. 8)

For what may be my last motorcycle ride of the season, it was BONUS ANIMAL DAY...
Saw Canadian geese flying south, cows, a coyote, bunches of deer, some donkeys, ducks on a pond,
grouse, a herd of elk, a hawk or two, horses, and a flock of sheep... Took some pictures.
Found a road I have never been on before. Rode some gravel, hit the twisties, was slowed be my nemesis the evil Ford F150
and washed the S10 before putting her away...

YTD Totals: 162 riding days, 468.85 hrs in the saddle, 36807 kms [22871 miles] traveled, odometer of the Super Tenere 103240 kms [64150 miles]...

I WILL ride again if it chinooks enough out there, otherwise I will be surfing the interwebs for the latest and
greatest farkles AND mapping some new adventures and destinations for 2015.

After replacing a faulty TPS, I cut open the old one to get a look inside.
Found that the wiper arms have muliple metal fingers that engage with the contact paths. Not enough resolution in this pic, but the fingers wear grooves in the resistive strips (contact paths). From operating mostly at small thottle openings, I'm assuming the groove depths became uneven, causing the jumpiness I was experiencing.

Did a search and could not find a discussion about the TPS. Is there a thread discussing the replacement of the TPS?

TIA

What are your...
... mileages
... type of riding (traffic, twisties, rural, freeway)
... what lead you to the TPS

Also - I was just curious in this one if they are actually scratched (copper removed) or just collecting corrosion and feel rough.. I work on musical equipment like guitars etc and a lot of times these kinds of wipers (think volume knobs etc.) get gummed up and you can clean them with a product like : http://www.homedepot.com/p/CRC-2-26-5-oz-Multi-Purpose-Lubricant-02004/100398344?N=5yc1vZbm6i
I have been surprised by the improvement a treatment can do when it is just dirty or corroded. But if you really mean it is grooved out a replacement does seem in order.

Good for you! For what may be your last ride of the season you're very fortunate to have seen so many great sights. Something to ponder until next year anyway. I feel for you... This time of year is tough for riders in the north.

There are actually grooves scratched into the surface. Take a look at the wiper arms; they are not the same as the smooth variety that makes contact with a wire-wound resistance element. These arms have sharp tips that scratch into a flat contact patch.
Additionally, if you can be the first to open this sealed TPS without cutting it open with a dremel -or maybe you can somehow pry the cover off without breaking the retaining lip- then by all means, gives cleaning it a shot. That's why you don't hear about people opening the case and cleaning a TPS. For an $80.00 item, I would rather just replace it after 35k miles (in my case) because it's not worth all of the trouble. Your results may vary. For all I know many of them might last longer than the bike.
I didn't mean to start hand wringing among the thrift wizards and hypochondriacs. Just telling you what I did, and what I would do if it happens again.

Finished installing new clutch basket, CCT, Barnett pressure plate, V Stream windshield, synced throttle bodies then took her out for a short test ride where a deer almost took me out. Boy would I have been upset. Lol

I looked at, then stepped around my Super Tenere to grab the effing snow shovel.
I hear ya. I put mine to bed on Friday at the dealership, as we had a large snowfall just a few miles west of here that day. :-[ I would prefer to store it at home, but this frees up garage space so we can put my wife's RAV 4 in the garage during the winter.

C'mon spring!

Rode it to visit its garage mate, a 1993 Chevrolet S10, that is being repaired. The weather is so good I am riding somewhere tomorrow.
