This whole last week has been spent working on the Tenere. Installed AltRider skid plate and pillion and rear luggage racks. Already had AltRider crash bars on. Also taught myself how to change my own tires. Installed a set of Shinko 705s. Have a Mitas E07 rear and TKC80 front on the side for a rally later in October. The Shinkos will carry me to the Smoky mountains in a couple of weeks and a quick 800 mile trip next weekend.

Yesterday was change tire day for Arkansas next moth.

Letting the Sun do it's magic. The TKCs went on really easy compared to K60s.

I love the look of knobs on this bike and they should serve me well for what I want to do at the Rally.

I took my dark Vstream off and put on the stocker so I can see the ground better and those baby heads that hide in the creeks. Third week of October can't come fast enough for me.

TrueGrip... like the looks of the black bike with the black/white decals - good job!!!

The Tenere does indeed look "proper" with knobbies on it. I have never ridden the TKCs, but I can vouch for the BigBlocks and the Mitas e09 tires. My experiences argue that if you give them a chance, you can push the knobbies hard enough on pavement to do what you want while having all the great offroad capability ready at your fingertips. Not sure I will ever put anything but knobbies on Fancy from here on out.

Thanks for the compliment Trikepilot. I'm looking forward to giving them a try after Arkansas they should last the winter riding our local dirt. My fast pavement days are behind me mostly the occasional quick pace satisfies me now. I must have low T ::025::

If you have not done so already, before you get to the AR gathering, take some time to get out in some loose dirt and rocks and play around with the TCS off. The combo of knobbies and no TCS truly converts the Tenere into the WLDB (world's largest dirtbike) that some of us have proselytized here at the forum. Being familiar with the performance parameters in this configuration will go a long way to making your AR ride safer and more fun.

I went from the OEM crap tires to K60's to BigBlocks and now e09s and cannot ever fathom why I would not run knobbies on the big girl.

Added a Fiam horn. I said that I was not going to go crazy with this bike. One of the reasons I got it was the integration, everything was already there, CC, heated grips, etc.....I added all that stuff to my Wee and said no more! Well that lasted a week.

Also, mocked up my dash self, nothing fancy, just need a spot to put an always hot 12V outlet, voltmeter and Gerbing controller.

I got out yesterday afternoon to give the TKC's a try. First check was to verify the 99mph rating. Took it up to a hundred smooth and balanced so no problems passing on the interstate. Next was a nice twisty road, I felt these turn in a lot better than the K60s and transition better from curve to curve. They seem smoother on pavement and hardly noticed any roar. I didn't use all the tire in the curves but that will come as I gain confidence in them. Next I went to the dirt. Now we haven't had a good rain here in several weeks so it slick dry and dusty. I did ride plenty of hard pack with gravel and rocks and crossed several water crossings. I liked the way the front felt better than the k60s a bit more planted and the back was a rooster and shot me forward every time my wrist said. I did leave TCS off and had better control in T mode when I was slinging rocks. My first impression is these are going to be fun and satisfied with the ride so far but that will change as they wear so we'll see.

Getting ready for rally season. Stripped off the J&M CB system and moved to bluetooth Sean system. Have a problem with the GPS and/or GPS mount to sort out as the phone function isn't working. Not very happy with the sound quality of the Sena as compared with the J&M, but I am still experimenting with speaker placement. Still, its nice to be wireless.

A friend helped me install the 2014 clutch basket and CCT. Much improved on the smoothness front as others have said.

Also moved the topbox further to the rear, allowing more room on the pinion seat for my big Orlieb dry bag. Now it won't encroach on my saddle when loaded down for camping. ::008::

That is not the end of the road....just an obstacle enroute to the next part of the road....makes me think of Robin Hood men in tights scene when Friar tries crossing the stream and falls and thinks he is drowning.... ::025::
